Are the repro tachs calibrated to work with electronic ignition?  I have the orange box and the sun tach I had was way off.  When I upgrade to the Firecore system I want to make sure the tach will be on the mark before I plunk down that amount of cash.

My understanding is that they are.  Greg at Real Time Engineering would know.

Oh good, I'll shoot him an email.

Sometimes I wonder why our cars have gauges, you might as well guess what's going on.

Well I got my answer when I went to their web site...

They now sell a calibrated circuit board that works with all types of ignition systems. It's $100 + finding a tach.  Costly but as long as I only have to install it once and never again I'll be happy.

Look at most of the other performance cars of the day though and we had it pretty good.

As far as that goes, someone told me that a lot of modern cars with gauges are actually more like idiot lights in that the guage is set up to display normal all the time and just move when its too late much like warning lights work.  I don't know if its true or not but it seems like something a lot of companies would do.
