Hello! I'm Kristen, and I almost made a bad decision on buying an old challenger. That led me to challengertalk forums, and they strongly advised me against it, I declined the car, and went to Carlisle this last weekend. (Also thanks to one of the guys on that forum suggesting I try it out.)

I arrived on Thursday morning (with my boyfriend) we slept for a couple of hours and made our way over to the fairgrounds. We looked around and spent hours just mapping the place out in our heads. We didn't find the corral until later that evening, one of the last places we looked. We were disappointed that there weren't many cars out that day, but hyped about seeing everything the next day.

Friday I saw two cars that interested me a pink gtx, and a blue charger. (You can guess which one I ended up buying.) The gtx wasn't a numbers matching car, and a lot of the work made me hesitant to spend the money the guy was asking for it. I walked away from it and knew I didn't want to buy it. It was disappointing.

The blue charger I saw I looked at on friday, but wasn't convinced I wanted to buy it, it was an automatic, and I had my heart set on a 4speed. I left that day with some new friends, and had a great time, but still no car.

Saturday I spend the entire day buying the blue car. I had gone back to talk to the guy, and the extensive documentation, and the immaculate condition of the car sold me. I could live with an automatic. :)

I spent that evening tracking down an enclosed trailer to buy, and went back to the room exhausted, but with a new car and a new trailer. :)

Sunday we loaded the car onto the trailer, and drove back to NC, which is where I reside. An exhausting, but super fun weekend.

A little bit about myself, I'm 25, I was married to a Marine for just shy of 6 years, and he passed away. (It wasn't in the war.) We were both Mopar fanatics, and he always told me if I died he would use the settlement to buy his dream car. I decided it was only fair to do the same for myself. His dog tags (with my wedding ring) now hang on the rear view mirror.

I'm sorry this is a little choppy, but some of it has been hard for me to write. I'll return with more about the car later, I don't know how many of you were at Carlisle and got to see her in person, but here are some pictures. :)

My car is my wife's car.  She bought it when she was 15, so there are a few Mopar gals here.

Welcome to the Forum.

MoparGrl

I liked the GTX, but nothing on it was original. I asked him why he chose pink, he told me he liked eye catching colors, which is fine, but I asked him what the cars original color was and he didn't know. Even if it was primered when you bought it, if you'd paid any attention to the fender tag or vin number, shouldn't you know the original color of the car? That made me nervous. I wanted a car that was well documented, and built the way it should be built. I didn't mind spending a little extra money to get it. And my dad had a 68 gtx, which is why I'm partial to them, so my charger looks similar to his old car.

Don't know how big the image is... but here's the car.

The pink GTX at Carlisle was bought by a dealer in Michigan.  VIN is (U-code) 440-4bbl but its a real GTX (RS23). The block appears to be 8-69. No fender tag was pictured.

Interesting that they want $39,900 when the guy was selling it for $25,000.

It's a beautiful car, but when some of the striping doesn't match up, and some of the chrome lines aren't clean, not to mention the tuning of the car wasn't done... I just didn't want to pay $25k for a car that wasn't original, and that the guy couldn't tell me details about it bothered me. Wonder if they'll find a buyer at that price, considering I got my charger for about that and it's numbers matching, and you guys have seen it. (Pictures or in person.)

That pink GTX was at Rhinebeck in May...    $37K sounds about what he was asking...  maybe 39.      Talked to the owner... was originally light bronze.   It was a fairly nice car but would have only been worth that much had it been an original pink car ...  more if it was #'s matching... which it wasn't.
