I have a set of Stocker Stars that are 12 way single adjustable.  They adjust compression and extension at the same time.  They don't make them any more, but instead have 18 way single adjustable, but they adjust rebound only.  Anyone have some insight into why they would do this?

It may be the semantics of the advertising or rep you are talking with.  A single adjustable shock has always been a percentage of one side of the equation over the other with a bias toward one side, usually rebound since most of these are used in drag race applciations. Odds are your original shocks were the same way but with the proliferation of performance shocks coming out the last couple of years, companies have had to deal with a more informed customer base, which means they need to more clearly define exactly what they're technology is doing.

FWIW, the QA1 site does say they adjust both at the same time.

Both your shock and the new design will behave similar.  They are simply adding a bit more adjustment by saying "18" positions, but in reality both designs acomplish the same thing.  Some of the monotube designs have advanced in recent years, but I would not lose sleep over the difference.

If you would like to talk to someone about it at QA1, let me know.

OK.  I was looking for another set, and searched for the part numbers I had.  Summitt and Jegs said it was replaced by these new part numbers, and the description said rebound adjustment only.  I swear I read that on the QA1 site too, but I guess I was wrong.
