I just did the SSBS Disc brake upgrade for my '66. In the process I removed the brake booster and took apart to repaint. I took off the ring, split it and refinished, then reassembled. All seemed to be straight forward. now with new kit installed brake booster is not working properly and makes a humming noise. The noise does not start until driving half mile or so and I just barley touch the pedal and it will stop, the noise that is. Pedal is very hard when stopped when at a stand still. When I apply the brakes when moving pedal feels firm for a split second then goes down slightly further, a bit spongy. As for stopping, the car will slow down at best. What could I of messed up?

Sounds like you may have broken the diaphragm, do you have a vacuum pump? check to see if it hold vacuum.

I don't have vacuum pump, but definitely a howling noise coming from unit, must be air leak. Noise stops when I disconnect vacuum line. I ordered a Cardone rebuilt unit today from Summitt. There may be a simple fix to the present one but it is very difficult to remove so I will spend the $100.00 for one that should work after replacing.
