ACCEL Distributor Question and yes I am beeing Stupid!

OK, I know this stupid for me to even think about, but I still OK with points. I have a old Accel dual point mechanical advances distributor for the current 383. It is the kind with the second bearing plate under the rotor. Last time I had it dialed in on a distributor machine the points where stable to 7200 RPM's. 

I am still daydreaming about a 440 again, but I am on a slim budget.

Does anyone here know if a stock 440 distributor drive shaft will interchange with a 383 distributor? And with some real luck, it might fit in the Accel unit? 

I am so old, I still have a dwell meter and feeler gauges!

stock distributor shafts should interchange with each other. Nothing will interchange with the Accel unit
