See..........they can be saved.   :2thumbs:
Saved?  Or replaced??    :shruggy:

I agree.....I saw that car in person a few years ago, man that was a parts car IMHO, if they "saved it" by actually repairing/rebuilding that rotted hulk of a unibody, they were ambitious to say the least!, I would have just rebodied the thing and been done with it, but who knows how it was really "restored"?...not that it matters, to some

Dang it Stu, you beat me to it !
Was there yesterday , took those same pics.
Apparently you were not wearing your green man-kini , Mr. team GREEN  :D

I with the rest of the replies, what exactly was saved on that car?  I remember looking at that car at Carlisle in 2011 as well , and the only thing I can remember is looking THROUGH the car when  I was looking at it .  :o

Ron Penska's Rusty Crusty Superbird
A nice note from Ron Penska in New Jersey:
"Doug, I must be out of my mind but I bought that rust
bucket Superbird in West Virginia. It will probably stay as
a "conversation piece" as for now I can't even think about a
restoration. That being said I'm happy to report it to the
club as a addition to the registration list. As you know it is
RM23UOA161602. Identical to my other Bird, Limelight
green, 440-4bbl, auto console, black interior, rallye wheels.
(motor & trans. are gone) . It does have the VIN decal on
the door jamb, VIN # on the dash pad & data plate. ( plate
is rusted & paper thin) Title is good. I would like to try &
complete the historical reseach if possible. If anyone has
ANY information on this car, I would like to know,
including broadcast sheet, dealer invoice, any anecdotal
history. Trust me, the pictures are better than the car looks!
Thanks, Ron Penska"

I was poking around around on Facebook looking at a shop's in-process projects and spied something familiar looking hanging from the ceiling. I don't know if they did all the work, but that is definitely the subject car's hood and nose! If you scroll through the shops photos there are also a couple of pictures of a Superbird going through a MAJOR rebuild!  :2thumbs:

They appear to have all the right stuff.     They are using bench and fixtures on the Challenger which in my opinion is the ultimate way to repair a unibody.

This is not your typical fly by night outfit.

Aero426

They are not scared of rust, that is for sure.   That Bird has so much AMD in it, it probably can speak Chinese as a second language.
