It seems strange to say on a Charger site, but I have always loved sleepers.

I think I'm a sleeper fan as well. My 68 hemi RR had 383 inserts on the hood mostly because I tired of the attention it brought. This was around 78 to early 80s. It was my driver for those years.  :D

It was almost trouble free for 75K miles.  And was fun to play with folks on the open highway.  (It had 3/23 rear end)

Sleepers IMO, are like Nitrous....only good one time, then you can't buy a run.

Depends where you live probably too.

Good link Charlie!!!  :2thumbs: I always wanted to stuff a SRT-4 powertrain into a old stripped out K car! (wagon preferably with the faux woodgrain!!)
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

so your saying cooter we have to ask to race them twice or more to get our revenge on bottle fed folks  :icon_smile_big:

I think the term sleeper is starting to used a little loosely on some of those.  Still cool though :2thumbs:

Lemme put it another way.....REAL racers NEVER pull up beside ANYTHING without knowing what you got, how much money your daddy threw at it, who built it, what it runs on a good day, and how much seat time you have.
Now, once I see a 'farm truck' run in the high 9's, the cats out the bag. A $25-30k engine in what appears to be a 'junker'....
No more sleeper.

I agree, I thought the Jeep and the Cavalier were the most interesting.

If I ever built a sleeper it would probably be all-wheel drive and I would not even stage it, just pull up to the line and go.  That's a sleeper to me, doing a huge burnout first is like putting the punchline first.
