Ok how hard is it to replace the bushings in your torsion bar?  After I remove the front nut and detach the rear do you just pull them back?  What tools will I need to do the job correctly?

Chryco Psycho

there are no bushings to do with the torsion bar just bushings for the lower control arm , the easiest way to remove the T bar & lower control arm is to back off the adjuster for the T bar,  undo the nut holding the LCA in the K frame , remove the retainer clip at the rear of the T bar  & pry both backwards together

I guess those are the busings I was referring to.  Thanks for clarifying.  So, how hard is that prying part?

Ghoste

It depends on how much gunk is in there.  Sometimes it almost seems to fall apart and sometimes it needs a gorilla with a sledgehammer.

Anyone got a gorilla they wouldn't mind loanin out?  Just in case... :icon_smile_big:

You probably won't have that much trouble.  It's important to not nick the torsion bars when you are trying to remove them.  Do NOT try to take them out by clamping a pair of locking pliers around them and hitting them with a hammer.  If you nick the surface, you can create a stress riser which will allow the bar to fracture under load.

Follow Chryco's advice of unbolting the lca and pry between the control arm and the K frame.  That will be the best bet if your main concern is just changing out those dust shields.
