When I think hydrogen, I also remember the story of the Hindenburg. 
That accident put a stop to the mighty Airships...

They still use airships, they just don't use Hydrogen.

Too bad they haven't found a way to bottle all the hot air from the forum, we'd have ours floating pretty high.

Yep, the Hindenburg wasn't very safe.....I guess Chrysler learned a few things from the designers of the Air ship when designing the Jeeps with Exploding fuel tanks.

Cool stuff.  100 years ago the human race was just inventing the plane... now look at what is out there.  I could see hydrogen cars being pretty common in 50 years or so for sure.

But the real concern is the lack of a hydrogen production and distribution infrastructure.

If you live elsewhere, paying $50-100k for one isn't a smart idea.

Lots of interesting things in these paragraphs:

Honda, meanwhile, has leased a handful of its own fuel-cell vehicles to consumers in Southern California, where a small number of hydrogen pumps are available.

The Obama Administration initially pulled funding away from hydrogen to support battery research but some money is now being restored to the program. Germany, meanwhile, has approved an ambitious project that would establish a network of alternative power stations – offering both hydrogen pumps and high-speed battery chargers – across the country.

It's a BIG stretch to compare a humongous airship with an exposed, ultra-flimsy container to the tank and surrounding structure of a modern car (not to mention the amount of gas involved).

I'd buy one before an all electric vehicle - mainly because EVs just don't have the range I need.
