I was looking on Year One site for decals and saw a pair of 68 Road Runner Door decals I will need down the line. They where around $30.00, I would live with that. :shruggy: Then I clicked on shipping cost, $13.00 for a pair of decals? Are they Fucking Nuts! Do they think they are selling on E-Bay?

Being a HO train person, I can order a 3 pound HO train engine and have it shipped for between $14.00 to $25.00.

While it has been sometime now I have spent well over 10K with Year One, I was never pissed off by there shipping cost then!

Am I just that out of date? I hate to guess what they will want to ship a quarter skin $500.00?  :brickwall:

Try having something shipped to Australia. It stinks big time.   :eek2:  I could have built my car twice over with the money I've spent on shipping costs.

Tomorrow is promised to no one.......drive your Charger today.

Ghoste

Yep Ken, YO have become infamous for their shipping rapes.

A383Wing

one of many reasons I don't do business with them anymore

Fred

But they're all charging like wounded bulls these days!  :shruggy:

OK, is there anyone to buy from that is not nuts?

Ghoste

There are several suppliers out there that are fair.  In fact most of the rest of them as far as I know.  Is it just the decals you are looking for?

cudaken

68 Road Runner in a box?  :smilielol:

Main thing is a quarter skin.

Ghoste

If you are looking at the AMD sheet metal there are several places with better deals than YO.  I think there are even some members here dealing in it.  Dantes are good, the Dodge dealer in Roseville Michigan is great, there are a bunch.

Outside of YO the only other one I would avoid is that place with the hag who answers the phone.  Is it Jims?

I haven't bought anything from year one in years.

Eventually, they'll price themselves out of business.

Avoid them if at all possible.

yea...they seem to have good prices, and I have not heard any bad rep about them either

Cooter

Why are we messing with Year One? Is it because people see their name on that F&F movie and figure that's the only place to get muscle car parts?
Is it because their name has been out there longer and many already shop there?
Is it because many Celeb's shop there for their parts?

With all this info out there today, I see no reason to keep getting hosed by Year One.

Right off top of head here:

Performance Car Graphics

Sherman's
Classic Industries

The F&F movies are part of it Cooter,  they also advertise like mad in the magazines.  Mopar Muscle reads like a YO infomercial much of the time.

bull

Jegs and Summit are carrying more and more classic car parts and Jegs just started doing free shipping on everything. I just ordered a tail panel emblem for my 68 through them.

yearone were good 23 or 4 year ago when i first started ordering stiff   right up till they started with fast & furious crap , slowly got more expencive  shipping & the price of parts compared to others  , &  9 time out of ten it was out of stock , no so in the old days ,  don't use them now if i can help it

  i use
jacks autoparts
summit
jegs
mancini
PST
firm feel industries

& actually have used Jims in the past only cause they were only ones to have the parts in stock  cause every one avoids them haha) , & shipping was on par with year one prices , although it was 12 years ago  :o :icon_smile_blackeye: , got parts in 3 days  too seemed helpfull on phone too , but loads & loads of horror storys from these guys , think they are a  bit like hlpeg  of mopar parts suppliers ,

You know it is kind of sad, I use to love Year One. I have forgotten the one sales person I asked for all the time, but if I told him a good Mopar Story, I got a discount! I would guess between my cars and friends cars I spent well over 20K with them!

Far as the F&F crap, only one I seen was the first one with the 70 Charger. I all so got sick of people coming to our site and asking about it that where not real Mopar Guys! All so got sick of the "What Color Should I Paint It! Well dummy, the color you like!  :nana:

A 383 Wing, Performance Car Graphics has very fair shipping! When I am ready, I will be using him!  :2thumbs:

Bull and Tan Top, after going to the Jegs and Mancini site I think I am getting hooked on speed again!  :-\

Now if I can just find a 440 laying around somewhere!

Thank You all for your time to post!  :2thumbs:

Year One got full of themselves years ago when they were the only game in town and never got over it.  Most industries and professions have been figuring out over the years how to maximize profits at any cost.  That goes double if you sell a service or product that we must have.  I took my monthly load of garbage to the dump (country boy) the other day and they had just doubled the minimum fee from $7.50 to $15.00!

Year one is expensive on all counts. You can easily find anything they sell cheaper on other sites and shipping is better.

I heard HLPAG took them over, not sure how true that is  :shruggy:

I think the last time I bought something from Year One was back in 1999 for my Challenger, WAY too expensive I am suprised they have not went the way of "the Paddock" yet!!

You mean the Paddock went out of business?  Wonder if it had to do with them basing the price of shipping on how much the part was!

I thought Overhaulin' went off the air back in 2005 or 2006?(unless they have re-upped it cause I don't pay for cable TV.. waste of money IMO)

I used Y1 once and it was for more than $1,000 worth of stuff to take advantage of their 25% off deal that comes around once in a while. Y1 shipping is like getting mugged unless you order big stuff or a lot of stuff. The best thing to do is order one big thing and a lot of little things, that way they'll put the big thing in an box and then stuff the box with the little stuff which basically piggybacks for free. Other than that, Y1's shipping charges are horrific.

A383Wing

last thing I ordered from YO was the trunk finish panel kit for the 66 Charger....shipping was more than the item I was buying

Good to know.
Doesn't YO have a lock on wiring harnesses? Didn't think you could buy direct from M&H. Bought all my wiring harnesses for the 68 last year from YO when they had 30% off plus free shipping.

They do have a lock on them and it must be a good contract because M&H could sell a lot more of them through other vendors I bet.

YearOne bought the licencing rights from Chrysler to produce the older wiring harnesses.
