I've developed an issue. I have a 727 with a cheetah full manual valve body. Sometimes when I put it in gear it won't move in forward no matter how much I rev it takes a few seconds to go into gear. When it does its like I neutral drop it. But if I start it and go into reverse right away it will go in reverse no problem. If I go from reverse to forward it slips againuntil it catches and then slams into gear. Anybody got an idead of what's going on here?

You've got a leakage issue at the rear clutch, either the rubber seals or the sealing rings. If the rubber seals are the problem some Trans-X or Lucas additive might rejuvenate them...otherwise it'll need to be removed/disassembled.

Ok thanks for the reply. Ill try that additive. Why would it suddenly catch and hold? No way to fix this by just pulling the valve body is there?

When there is severe leakage, the volume of fluid will eventually allow the clutch to engage; it takes more pressure to engage the clutch than it does for the clutch to hold after it eventually engages.

The clutches are totally separate from the valve body, no quick fix other than (possibly) the the additive.

band adjustment Low/reverese or valve body has crap in it

There is no band involved in Drive 1st gear.
