Jack Daniels distillery in Lynchburg, Tenn maybe 6 hours from you if you're into that sort of thing, I'm not into corvettes but the corvette museum is in Bowling Green KY which is about a 5 hour drive.  :shruggy:

Kansas.

Believe it or not...

There's lots to see in Kansas. :coolgleamA:

There's a Railroad museum just as you get into Kansas from Missouri.

There's the pony express museum.

There's the world's biggest ball of twine.

There was another huge railroad museum that was closed the day I was there.

There's a bunch of weird rocks called Rock City.

There's some place with a dead guy behind a piece of glass in a tomb in his back yard.

There's the Wizard of Oz Museum.

There's the Greyhound museum...

( Bunch of freaking dogs...Where's the antique busses ? )

There's the never ending toll road from Hell that you can't get off of for miles and miles...

There's the salt mine. :2thumbs:

My personal favorite is the Cosmosphere in Hutchinson, Kansas.

Rockets, lunar module, lunar rover, the capsule from Apollo 13, SR-71 Blackbird... :coolgleamA: :coolgleamA: :coolgleamA:

I'm going back someday and spend a week in that place. :coolgleamA: :coolgleamA: :coolgleamA:

(Member Todd Wilson lives close to the Cosmosphere. He has a truck ;))

And last but not least...

Stuart is in Kansas. :2thumbs: :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

Those places are fine if you don't mind seeing nothing for miles on miles and pretty much flat land

I think that's on the eastern side of the state almost to North Carolina. I'd like to see that myself but it might be tight trying to get that one and anything else in a 4 day weekend, especially from where you are.  :Twocents:

Kind of a drive but I went to the Henry Ford museum in Dearborn, MI.  It was pretty much a snap shot of the industrial revolution.  Lots of cool stuff in there I'd recommend it to anyone if you are ever in the area.

What's that museum that is next to the Heartland Park Raceway in Topeka?  That wasn't a bad place to go while waiting on the races to start.

I agree, great place to see.

Auburn Indiana has the mid-west most popular car museum, the ACD Museum.  The town also offers the NATMUS Car Museum, Kruse Car and Kruse WWII museums. NATMUS is a large museum with a little of everything, including some old Mopars.  The Kruse museum is huge.  They used to have a large section of real movie and TV cars, Indy cars, NASCAR, ect.  The WWII museum was second to none.  I heard some of his WWII stuff was sold off due to financial reasons.  I am not sure how it is now, have not been there for a couple years.

auburn in looks pretty cool, and i did look to plan  a trip to kansas to see the salt mine and the lunar stuff and dodge city. but that will have to be a week to see everything we want to see, so i think we may do that in september. hen i just got reminded that the street machine nationals is here this weekend. so the mini vacation just got shrunk to thursday and friday so i can do the car craft street machine nats on saturday. :2thumbs: so i told the wife that we dont have to have a car museum since we will be at the best car show in the world. :2thumbs:

don't forget big brutus!!!
Daddy ran whiskey in a big black dodge
bought it at an auction at the masons lodge,
Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side,
just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....

Saw the Muscle Car Museum in Sevierville On a Motorcycle trip. Was worth seeing. Saw the Petty Museum last spring. Petty Enterprise Shops are nearby. (Level Cross, NC} The King was not there that day, but I left sun visors from both Chargers . He autographed them and mailed them back.
