1R109106 makes sense as a VIN

1 = 71

R = Windsor Plant (I do believe some Hemi B-Bodies were built there in 71)

109106 = sequence number

Hmmm, the assembly plant.  I had not considered it being 1R109106.  I had just assumed the first try at stamping it got the 1 and the R reversed.

Later 69-71 (after that - don't know)

Engine and Trans stamps were partial and were always Year, Plant and then the 6 digit sequential number.

Great information!  Were e-body Hemi's assembled at the Windsor plant too?

No sir.

So, it would have originally been installed in a Charger R/T, SuperBee, Road Runner or GTX.  Did any Chargers or Satellite's get a Hemi in '71?  The production numbers I've reviewed don't show that there were.

Chargers for sure - but I don't think any were built in Windsor in 71....don't have my books with me. Maybe someone else can chime in.

E-Bodies were Hamtramck or LA only.....but I think Hemi E-bodies were mostly (if not all) were Hamtramck

I apologize for continuing to badger you with questions, but they keep popping in my head, lol.  Were the Windsor built Hemi cars brought back into the U.S. for sale or did they remain in Canada?

maxwellwedge

No problem.  Both.....Probably most went back to the US.

The only hemi cars that could have been built at the Windsor plant in 71 would have been GTX's or Road Runners. Dodge B bodies and E bodies were built at other plants.
The White Book has an interesting notation....it shows RM23R1R production of 4; all built for Canada market. It shows two RS23R1R cars built for sale for Canada. It would be interesting to know the history of the car this came from.
Seeking information on '69 St. Louis plant VINs, SPDs and VONs. Buld sheets and tag pictures appreciated. Over 3,000 on file thanks to people like you.
