:flame: Well I thought all my issues solved and was going for an early morning cruise and to let the wife sleep in. There was a car show today that was going to be my debut as all my coworkers, friends and family were looking forward to seeing it. So I get about a mile from my house and the car slowly stops running and I'm going wtf? I have put new ignition,91 Octane fuel and the spacer/gasket to prevent fuel boiling it it was running stellar. I could smell fuel when it stopped so I waited before I tried to start it. I could get it running but if I let my foot of the fuel it would die. I had numerous people stop to help but with the car being so low I called Hagerty roadside assistance as I pay for it right? It was the hottest day of the year yesterday(very humid) so I think I may have fuel line issues or maybe the vapor separator? We are going to try putting on a Holley750 this week and see if the Edelbrock is the culprit. I am so pissed off but I have such a great base of support on here I know I will get it solved. I drove the car over 150 miles on Thursday/Friday and it ran awesome and I had no issues at all. I am running shell 91 that contains no ethanol so wtf!

Did you ever make it to the show?  I had considered going to that one but the weather report made me chicken out.

That sucks for sure!  Look on the bright side...sure looks good while your sitting on the side of the road.   :pity:

Brightyellow69rtse

i had something similar happen years ago.  i took the air filter off after it happened and all i could smell was gas. i leaned over the motor and looked in the carb and it was just dripping fuel into the non running engine. i assume either the float was stuck or a piece of dirt caused it. after i cleaned everything it was fine after that.

Plum Crazy 68

I had similar problems with stalls and coughs until I firgured out how to properly set the fuel bowl level.  Check that.

A Holley 650.  These videos are what I followed to get it set properly.  Too little it will starve.  Too much it will flood.

Hey Marc,

Just a FYI, I was recommended to put a Proform on my car.  Based on my build, I have a 950 CFM on it, and outside of a few tweaks, runs awesome!  I had to adjust the floats, but outside of that it's been awesome.

Sorry to hear.....  Some friends got so sick of working on older cars, they went to newer ones.  I won't lie and say I haven't thought about it.  It can get frustrating at times......

My name is Mike and I'm a Moparholic!

Sheeesh....this problem is fighting you tooth and nail !  :flame:

Ok, time to get rid of that vapor seperator and install the fuel filter we talked about.  ;)

Edelbrock carbs are more heat sensative than Holley because the fuel bowl is part of the main body....while the Holley carbs have the bowls hanging off the ends.

This is definately a heat related fuel delivery problem  :yesnod:

Yes if you have 3/8" line from the fuel pump to the carb.    That's the one I use.

Well here I am getting ready to install the vapor separator and here you are replacing it with a filter that looks a lot like the separator!

I'll make a note of this one in case the separator gives me issues.

Damn, at least the wife and a few passengers were'nt in the car to add to the grief  :brickwall:
Sounds like you have it sorted.
Btw, why are you running 91?, is that all that is available locally?  I would have thought that the octane rating wasnt high enough for the motor  :shruggy:
