Lately i've been having chest pains, shortness of breath, temporary pains going into my left shoulder and up the left side of my neck and even some through my shoulder blade. I cant walk 50 yards without stopping and sitting down to rest.

My regular doctor sent me to cardiologist that ran a stress test, I got about halfway through the stress test and had to stop, so they put me on the table and injected something to get my heart rate up to finish the test, and they told me the results came back good.   :shruggy:  I have another appointment next week to try another test of some sort.

Has anyone had, anything like this happen before and it NOT be your heart?

Get a 2nd or 3rd opinion. Doctors are not always right the 1st time and it's your life they are playing with, not theirs. :Twocents:
Hope you feel better.

I have asthma, and while I've never had a bad "attack" that required a hospital visit I've got some things that drive me crazy.  The worst, I get chest pains all the time, in my sides, high up in the back under the shoulder blades, along the bottom of the ribs- everywhere except the classic center of the chest.  It feels either like I'm getting stabbed or getting a charly horse in the rib cage.  I've has stress tests and EKG's, it's annoying as hell to wonder if it is the heart this time but nothing has ever shown up in the tests.  If it gets bad enough the lung doc will put me on prednisone for 10 daays and I can jump buildings in a single bound, but the say it has side effects so they don't do it too often...

stripedelete

Sounds like you should be looking for a good pulmonary guy.

b5blue

How is your blood pressure? If your Hypertensive (High Blood pressure.) many things can bring on such "attacks". (Too much salt, lack of potassium?)  Have you or have you been tested for Diabetic condition? These are all connected.  :scratchchin:

Honestly, get to a doctor ASAP!!! Don't be a hero & ignore it; chest pains are nothing to brush off.

See another doctor.  Even if you pay out of pocket.  I had some similar symptoms that do not appear to have been cardio related, but mimicked them.  They may have come from a pretty hard fall I had a few years ago.  So it is possible it could be something else, but you need to know what it is and this is not something to mess around with because of the consequences.
Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

moparstuart

i agree  get a second opinion as that all the signs i had just before my heart attack two years ago
GO SELL CRAZY SOMEWHERE ELSE WE ARE ALL STOCKED UP HERE

burnout.dawg

I agree with everyone else. Get another opinion. If the symptoms get worse... don't wait for an appointment...go to the emergency room. Let us know how you are doing.

twodko

DO NOT DICK AROUD WITH THIS. You are experiencing precursory indications of a stroke or heart attack. Your peeps need you and the posse here needs you. Get on the stick!

You obviously have symptoms showing that something is not right. So whoever is saying every thing is right........is wrong! Your body is sending off warning bells. Heed them now, before it's to late.

Does that mean you won't be at Carlisle?

You might want to consider offering up your room to someone else since they're tough to come by.

A mate of mine went to the doctors for a standard physical and the doctor told him that everything was fine and he was fit as an ox........2 weeks later, he was dead!
Go figure.

And another mate (still with us today.......against all odds) went to see the doc complaining of really severe abdominal  pain and was told he's fine and when he gets the pain he should drink apple juice. So the next day the pain was so severe his yelling at his wife to give him some apple juice but after about a half hour she raced him to the hospital and he had to have an appendectomy. His appendix had burst and he is lucky to be alive.

Get your butt to an ER now.  You may have a blood clot in the artery. Don't wait to see the cardiologist, you need to go in now and tell the ER staff you are having chest pains.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

I have felt that way at times since the Anointed One was re elected.

Seriously, get an other opinion. I 'll drive you to the Doctor.

My wife had similar symptoms. She also thought it was signs of a heart attack. It was actually caused from back spasms below her right shoulder blade. Evan had numbness going up her neck to the left jaw. And yes shortness of breath. Went to a chiropractor and he pounded on a trigger point below the right shoulder blade and the symptoms went away.

I didn't do much but lay around all day yesterday, I feel pretty good this morning. I'm going to call another doctor this morning and see if I can get something going. The main reason I'm hesitant to go to the ER is that if it stops giving me the symptoms when I get there, what are they going to test for? Another stress test that shows nothing? Anyway the guy I work with said his doctor knows a stress test can miss things and won't put me on hold for a week or two waiting for another test.

I should know by this weekend if I'm going to make it to Carlisle or not. I really want to go because I have parts to bring and some to pick up, plus I want to see this 68 Hemi that Mark has been working on (if it's going to be there) but obviously if something is wrong I won't be going.

You need to go to ER, they would take you right away...probably give you blood work, ECG, chest x-ray, echo-cardiogram and such, no need for a stress test, you'll be stressed out enough with the junk hooked up to you..

Don't be stubborn, just go. My sisters b/f (52) was having pains, they would come and go...one night they got really bad...he dropped dead behind the wheel on his way to the hospital..

Do yourself and your loved ones a favor and get your ass up there... :slap:

No kidding.   Walked into an er a few years ago and I think said chest and I had a bed before I could say pains.
Turned out to be indegestion, but, the nurse was smoking hot and very attentive.  Of course, "results may vary" and I will accept no responsility for you getting Nurse Ratchet.

Fwiw, my money is on an issue with your lungs.

Thanks Bob, I appreciate you going above and beyond!

Actually I've felt good all day long. I called the doctor of the guy I work with and he told me to just stay on the path that I was headed down and do the test Wednesday because he was 3 weeks out for an appointment... but just like y'all have been saying he also said if it started up again to go to the ER. So that is my plan.

Thought I'd give y'all an update on whats been happening here. Went for an echo-cardiogram and it came back inconclusive? The doctor said everything looked fairly good but that there are certain parts of the heart that you cant see even with the tests. She put me on a timed release nitro pill. I'm to take that for 3 weeks and then go back and let her know how I've been doing. I took my second one this morning and other than a headache earlier I feel great.

I also went to a pulmonary specialist at the Cleveland Clinic last week and he ran some tests. He told me that while it's possible that I have two different things going on, he doesn't think it's a heart issue.  Today I went back get the results of the tests and he says that while it is mild, I have asthma. Never in my life have I had anything like that.

So, Now I have a heart doctor that gave me nitro and I feel great, and a pulmonary doctor that thinks I have asthma. At any rate I'm not nearly as worried as I was when i first posted this!  :2thumbs:

Get it checked out.... Doctors are just no more than "People mechanics", they make allot of mistakes "all the time", hence the skyrocketing malpractice insurance rates, especially in todays era of crappy HMO's, Co Pays, Kaiser/Taco Bell of Hospitals, way too many bad insurance policies, that won't pay for/cover something or other & Medicare/Medicaid low doctors pay issues, Govt. interferences or medaling with hospitals policies & your health-care choices, It will get worse in the near future too, remember they aren't always correct, about everything, very common for them to be completely wrong... I say get a couple qualified opinions NOW, not from people on forums, get some real "health-care professionals" to see you ASAP  :Twocents:

Typical 2 different Dr.'s 2 different opinions... I have a mild form of Asthma {it runs in my family}, took probably 1/2 a dozen Dr.'s before it was diagnosed properly, ran up the medical bills like crazy, other than a mild shortness of breath, especially when it's really hot outside, it's all relatively easily treatable.... Good luck best of health to ya....

kinda the same here...last December I got carted off to hospital..one doc said a seizure, the other said a mild stroke....they are still in disagreement over what happened to me that day

Hmmm...going back to the beginning of this thread and reading your symptoms...this somehow doesn't sound like a mild case of asthma. But I'm not a doctor. Go to the emergency room if you experience these symptoms again.

TooMuchTime

Here is the reason you take care of this NOW!

Your loved ones. You need to show any children or grandchildren or nephews or nieces that when you get symptoms like these, you do something about it. Yes, this is your life and you need to take some action. But this is also a teaching moment for the younger generation. In 40 years, you don't your progeny saying, "It's just a pain in my arm and neck. It'll go away." You want them saying, "Yeah. I remember when Dad had these very same pains in 2013. He got it taken care of early and it turned out well for everyone. Right, Pop?"
