Finally after several summers of trying to get rid of annoying squeaks, rattles, clunks, etc.
I located the source of the last pesky noise this morning and took my Charger out for a spin.
It's like driving a new (to me) car. I still have a whistle coming from the passenger wing window but man what a difference it makes to not hear all that other stuff going down the road

Makes the drive a lot more pleasant doesn't it?  I had a rattle that took me a couple of years to trace, I called it my trunk woodpecker.  It was intermittent and it wasn't until the shock was worn enough that I determined it was the tailpipe vibrating against the shock under certain conditions.
Maddening.

I had one in the black 66 that I could not find forever....it would only rattle at idle .....turns out the inner tube of one glass pack broke loose inside, so I took a drill bit, drilled through the outside shell into & through the inner tube, and ran a long sheet metal screw from outside to inside and tightened it enough to stop the annoying rattle

:2thumbs:  I can only imagine. I have so many it's like a concert going on in the car.

The one that drives me the most nuts is the driver window squeeks like crazy when it's all the way down. I keep putting it up a quarter inch, it stops, then slowly sinks down and squeeks again. It's a game.  :P

Glad you found it. I had some very annoying rattles, crunches and waddles. Yes, waddles. Turns out the top shock bolts were loose, the gas tank straps were loose (new tank, no wonder I was choking on fumes at fill up time) and one of the exhaust tips "waddled" against something. Tightened everything and all is quiet on the Q5 front. My passenger windows seal nicely but I have a wind tunnel effect on the drivers side between the main and quarter glass. It must be an easy adjustment. Easy to verify when it's right.........use a dollar bill to check for a good seal. I've just been lazy as hell.
Another tweak......read find the freakin' problem.... with my headlights. Hope to get it all dialed in by next years' car show season.......told ya I'm lazy.  :D

Here is a spot to look for anyone experiencing a noise from the rear . I have never heard this sound but I found the fix . While working on my car ,I discovered somebody placed an old rubber piece of hose in an area that was probably making noise . I figured I would post it here . Look behind the drivers side rear wheel. There is a metal plate that hides all the rubber fuel line hoses. The lines that comes out of the gas tank and into a vapor  type canister hidden behind the wheel . That metal cover touches the bottom of the trunk floor . Somebody tightened the cover on to a piece of rubber hose in order to eliminate a noise . I put a fresh piece of rubber hose in when I replaced the cover . its a spot you may not think of looking .

I have to add that this is from my 1971 charger .

Hahaha, I remember being in a mates diff shop years ago under a customers Ford pickup truck and he had a gun case welded in under there big enough for a couple of rifles and some hardware. We just looked at it and grinned  ;)

They didn't call them Rattle / Traps for nothing!

I have new vent window seals and roof rail seals yet to be installed.  That by far is the worst noise in my car, I can see the vent window frames vibrate at 55 mph.

The worst rattle in the car is the passenger seat, the seat back will rattle as soon as you hit anything but smooth asphalt.  Still, with all its noises, it's still way more fun to drive than anything else.   :2thumbs:
