Did 68 chargers ever come with power door locks.

I was just getting ready to put my new door panels on when I noticed a plug in the back corner then I looked on the passenger side and it had one as well. I looked in there and there was a power door lock actuator on both sides all hooked up but no wires going to the plug to power the actuators. Didnt look like anything aftermarket and the plugs and wires look dodge to me.Could someone have added these or is it stock.  :shruggy:If its stock where does the lock switch go and whats it look like.....Thankyou in advance.....Dave :scratchchin:

I'm pretty sure power locks were not an option...maybe those were added at one time in the cars life? You should see holes in the door jamb for wires to go through into body around door jamb light switch if they were stock or even added.

Problem with our cars is that if you lock doors when they are open, they will unlock when shut

would be cool to have, I got them on my Dakota & my Pontiac.

Yah there are holes their but the power window wires go through them. Its a 68 Dodge Charger 440 R/T S/E with the trac pac option,(I think that's what its called)Has the bumble bee with the white stripes as well  Thankyou for the info....Dave...Any other info much appreciated.

If there ever was such a thing I've never seen or heard of it. You could get power windows in '68 but never, ever have I heard of PDL on a '68, cept maybe a JC Whitney cobble.

Great guys thankyou for the info.I'm thinking I will just leave them in their unhooked incase I ever decide to hook them up.What do you guys think or do you reccomend removing the actuators. They dont seem to make unlocking the door with the key any harder.Or do you think it would be cool if I hooked them up. If so do you think it would devalue the car at all. Also if I leave them hooked up where would you mount the switch/switches so it looks good.I have an extra power window switch so it would all match.Would you put one in each door, just the drivers door so the driver could hit it when he opens the door. Or would you mount it under the dash on the drivers side so it is discreet to keep the factory look in the car but yet you could hit it to unlock or lock the doors when entering or leaving..Thanks....Dave

Did the C or Y bodies have them available in 68?

ODZKing

According to the Dealer Data books, yes.  As an option on C bodys only

My '67 Imperial had power locks, seen them on several '68 Imperials too.

Special Editions were new for 69

Boom!  You got it.  No such thing as a 68 SE

Yes there is but only on craigslist. There you can get 1 of 1 440 Hemis, Daytona Cudas, "survivor" cars with 17" wheels and three repaints, factory velvet diamond tuck interiors, etc.

Now that's funny!!!!!!!!!!! But oh so true. Seen a CL ad for a '74 Charger SE 500. Not only did the ad say "500" but the guy on the phone made sure that was the first he mentioned.

LMFAO

they walk among us...and they reproduce..scary

Ok well I thought about it and I took into account what you guys said about that they never had any for that year. I decided I have enough more important things to do on the car then wire in electric door locks.Sooo I left them in there they arnt hurting anything and someday when I have nothing better to do(yah right...lol) I'll mess with them then.I thought the guy said mine was an se so I was just going by that, still learning :) It is an R/T though so thats cool :)Thanks for all the input.......Dave

If they're already there, and especially if they work, I see no reason to get rid of them. I think it would be a cool feature.

Didn't catch it if you said it but is it a Chrysler setup, like out of a C-body?

Here's a C-body feature I wouldn't mind having: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,94948.0.html
