fuel sending unit 2947272, what does it fit?

Going through some fuel sending units I was able to come across, I located this original sending unit with the Introl and Pentastar and Chrysler part number 2947272 stamped into it as well as 04091.  Im guessing the 04091 is some kind of date coding but I could not find what the fuel sending unit part number would fit.  Anyone have a parts book to cross the number with it?

I checked my 68 to 72 books but no luck. Closest was 2947269/2947282. I suspect it is one of the times that the number is only a stamping#, not a part# it was sold under.  :Twocents:

not sure if casting or stamping number would meet the service number posted on parts manuals on these kind of parts
Venezuelan RT 74 400 4bbl, 727, 8.75 3.23 open. Now stroked with 440 crank and 3.55 SG. Here is the History and how is actually: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,7603.0/all.html

Yes, the number on the part often isn't the same as the part number in the book.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

So I guess there is no way of knowing what it would cross over to.   :brickwall:

but what is odd is that it has the penta star stamped into it as well as Introl along with the part number and another number.   :shruggy:

Went on the allpar site to see what Introl had supplied and maybe get a timeline and saw this .: Ive seen introl on the oil senders

During the mid-1980s, Chrysler's "Introl" Division, responsible for instrument clusters, was transferred from Ann Arbor and Scio to Huntsville and integrated into that operation. Chrysler's electronic instrument clusters, with digital readouts, were engineered and built in the Huntsville electronics plant. It had reminders for washer fluid, oil pressure, temperature, door-ajar, brake problems, and low voltage, with automatic checking for dead warning bulbs.

That is what I suspect.

Does it have the return line fitting on it?

resq302

No, and that was the whole issue since someone had changed this unit out.  I have been looking for a correct 3/8" supply with the 1/4" return with no success for an original.

Slim chance you'll find one of those.  I'm in the same boat, I'll have to buy a new unit if I want the return line so the ohm reading will be mismatched to that of the stock fuel gauge.  If however the unit you have now is an old unit then you can do 1HotDaytona's mod and make one unit out of two, get your cake and eat it.  I may end up doing this myself but man am I getting tired of not having much time to work on the car.  The last thing I need is more complicated stuff.
