Hi All
Does anyone have a plan or pics of a rotisserie ? Tried finding a place to rent one or buy, with no leads up here in quebec canada. My brother is going to build one have a pretty good idea, but we are wondering what stops the car from rolling completly over unexpectedly ? Just pins as stoppers ?

Thanks

Balance.

If the car is balanced properly, you should be able to roll it to any position with very little effort.

One hand is all that is needed when it's balanced correctly.

A small pin in a hole is all that is needed to keep it from moving while you sand, grind, etc.

I've seen some guys use a board or chain, or even a come-along to hold a car in position on their

home made or store bought rotisserie, if you are doing this, or you need five guys to roll the car

over...

STOP !

Someone is going to get dead.

Nice!, i'd love to have a rotisserie, but i've ran out of neighbours willing to store my crap in their garages  :smilielol:

I need to speak on this. My gut tells me it is made light. If the square tube used is heavy wall (3/16" or better) maybe ok but balance is top of the list when mounting the car body. I also would not feel comfortable under this until I tested by shaking it with the load on it. If it bows and flexes much when pushed beware.
If It was mine I would make the diagonal braces go from near the wheels to the top by the pivot. Better to be stronger than wish it was.

I looked at the picture some more and confess it may just look light from here.

I bought my Rotissere at Greg Smith Equipment for $950.00 hydraulic jacks to lift the car, and crank to turn it. super nice I could not have built it for $950.00  :Twocents:
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

Its 3/16 thickness. Will be some trial and error for sure, will be mounting it while its on post lift.

It is still working flawlessly with my Charger mounted to it for over a year now.

I looked at these plans and called my local steel distributor they wanted over 500.00 for the steel alone! I have some scrap steel I have been getting from a
friend. They use it for shipping large commercial lawnmowers but it looks a little thin. So I decided to buy two engine stand from jegs for 48.00 each.
I know a lot of guys go this way but I havent run across any plans. Anyone know of plans for using engine stands for a rotisserie??
Thanks!

Car been mounted on it for a year and towed in driveway behind a truck. All is well.

I wouldn't trust my car on the one pictured above. There is only 1 I used I liked & it comes in light blue, made in south Carolina, & has 2 steel tubes running long ways near floor, I hate the one tube ones. Forgot the name but best one on the market in my opinion. LEON.

I can share some crude plans for the rotisserie I just built if you are interested.  It's working great and I have my car on it currently, plenty tall and long enough for a charger.

Some square tubing, a couple annoying 3-legged 1000b engine stands (we have plenty of 4-leggers) and a few hydraulic rams were all it took.  Less than $200 into this.

Thanks tsmithae that sure would help. My engine stands arrive today. And I believe the steel I have is strong enough for cross members etc...I will need to order the ram jacks and that will put me right around 200.00 also...
