Since I don't have the coin for an enclosed trailer, and the last time this thing went up the Interstate it wasn't good. Ever see what a June bug can do to a paint job @ 75 MPH?

So, Thinking outside the box (*Pun intended), I decided to do up my own little "Redneck Enclosed Trailer". This is PITA BTW, But still cheaper than $$$$ for a New trailer.

Interesting solution. :scratchchin:

Really curious how well this works. :popcrn:

All you need is a big turntable to make it easier to put on. :2thumbs:

stripedelete

I'd beconcerned it would rub the paint off if it "flaps". :shruggy:

Is the show in Parkersburg this weekend?

Yes. Drakes Swap Meet.

As for the Flapping? I doubt it. This stuff is STICKY! It's like one big, gigantic, Red and white peppermint stick.

Glad you asked. Fury's are like Hemi Cudas in the Christine world. Not too many like to see a real Fury Cloned up in red and white. It began life in 2004 as a clapped out POS [There's a picture thread somewhere here], 1957 (Yes, I converted a '57 that was the gold and white twin to the "Tulsa Plymouth turd they dug up") Belvedere. 2dr Hard top.  Looked ALOT like Lebay's Car in the movie when Arnie found her. over the next 5 years, it slowly began to become a 1958 Belvedere to resemble the One in 'Christine'.

It came with a 301 V8 poly and  Cast iron Torqueflite trans with pushbuttons. I have since deleted the pushbutton Feature(They are still there for a prop as people seem to love them)  in favor of a more available 440/727 linkage shift trans. The shifter is actually my heater slider. WARM is 'Park' and COLD is 'Low 1', using a FWD cable from an olds. Rear end is from 1969 Roadrunner, 8 3/4 with 3:23 Sure Grip. It runs a 1962 413 Dual inline 4BBL intake and twin AFB's.
Yes, it sounds like the movie car. It has remote start with Headlights, Revving engine, and radio plays Soundtrack.
I have a few videos of her in action under WOT on You-tube under "Christine WOT"...

Shifting with your heater controls = way cooler than push button trans!

You could leave the keys in it on the street and nobody could figure out how to steal it, unless it was really hot outside :)

 :smilielol: That's hilarious. I am waiting for "Christine" to melt that stuff off!!  :icon_smile_big:
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

Since it helps keep food fresh, it should keep Christine fresh as well :icon_smile_big: :2thumbs:

I have wrapped motors and such in the back of my pick up with that stuff many times. I find it helpful to have a couple rolls of clear packing tape to wrap around also. Once you get going you will inevitably find that wind will make its way under some area and it will come loose and start flapping. A couple times around with the packing tape usually solves the problem and is easy enough to cut away once you arrive.

Good wrap plan for keeping the bugs off Cooter, and yeah, the heater shifter is quite a good idea for retaining stock look, one of my mates with a 58 Fury ( dual quad B 350 ) has got dumpers he made out of wiper motors and are controlled from a stock looking rotary black with on the dash
A whole bunch of them  ( The Fin Brothers ) all went to the Tulsarama thong a few years back, did you go to it too?

Looking forward to pictures from the show  :popcrn:

never tried that... will that stuff stay on while cruising at 60mph down the highway with all the wind ??

Didn't go around with the shipping tape enough. Found out it lasted only a few miles on the Interstate. Lasted about 50 Miles at around 45-55 MPH, but once 75-80 MPH hit, it came loose. At least we had pretty good weather though. Show was good, but rained (Hurricane or something) Friday and not too many folks there. 'Christine' was a hit though and remote start surprised a few Ohio/West Va folks.

No, I didn't go to Tulsarama. I have had basements before, and knew what that thing was gonna look like about 5 years before in 2002 when people were talking bout it then.

Not too many pics of show cars as there were only about 25 cars there. I will post soon though.

Cooter... Ya did real good on her.  :2thumbs: What a beautiful Fury. That has to be the coolest thing to remote start the car when people are looking at it. I hope to see it. Maybe Carlisle if you're going?

bill440rt

Interesting concept with the wrap, at least you gave it a try.

Kudos to you on saving this one, looked like it was quite a roach. Job well done. I've seen the car before, it's a nice car.
