Just hung this new spring and this doesn't look right.  I feel it has WAY too much forward angle.  Any Ideas as to how I might get the angle to a more correct one?

I used to have a handle on life....but it broke off.

Here's a pic of the spring.  It measures 51" hole to hole.  20" from end to pin and 33" from pin to other end.
Thanks

What's the measurement of the original spring? :popcrn: :popcrn: :popcrn:

Bob

Does it make any differance if it's on the ground with a load?

Can't tell ya.  They were so rusted, that a guy took them for scrap.

Might mention that the rear is bare.  Only thing back there is that one spring.  No rear end, shocks, etc.

Try not to tighten the bolts on the rear shackle until you have the rear end kinda sitting more on the ground. Once tight, those bushings kinda "hold" there place a little. If you tighten where it's at, they will always want to return to that sharp angle.

try to find the correct measurements, those springs seem to short

Looking at the first picture and the 20" measurement, these look like A body springs. However,  A body springs should have the rear section measurement of the pack at 35", not 33"

The arch of these springs is also pretty severe, leading me to believe they are Super Stock springs. SS springs should have the same measurements as an A body spring, so you still aear to be missing a couple of inches somewhere. So I have to ask, are they going into an A body and if not, do you have the correct front hanger if they are going into something else?

Now, one thing I have seen SS springs do when initially installed, unloaded with no weight, is that they appear to install short. You will need to put the rest of the suspension in, put it slightly on the ground, and physically flip the shockle over to its correct location. The arch and resistance of SS springs is such that they don't always automatically go to the correct position when there is no load on them.

the spring purch is not a B body piece. mine is longer and has 2 mounting points, one high and another lower.
