First Day Out With The Charger

Well, it was a nice winter's day here in Sydney and a public holiday as well, so it was a no brainer to take the Charger out on its maiden voyage. I decided to take it over to my folks place which is about 30 minutes away, because I hadn't told them about it yet and I knew it would be a good surprise to just show up with it. She ran well and there weren't too many idiots on the road, just a few rubber neckers, but I'll soon get used to that. I'm also still getting used to the left hand drive and its extra width, but I feel comfortable in it and it is awesome to drive. My wife did a great job as co-pilot, telling me how fast I should be going by converting the kilometre road signs into miles. We had to be careful because of the double fines and double demerit points we have imposed for the long weekend. My folks were pretty surprised when they saw me in the driveway but at the same time they knew that this day would one day come. My mum was the first to call shotgun and ask when we were going for a run. My sister and her two young ones were there also and my niece seemed more interested in the car than my nephew. I took heaps of photo's with the family and they had just as big, if not bigger smiles of their faces than I did.  I drove them around the local streets of the new development where they live and stopped at a few places for more photos. It got a bit overcast and showered a little at the end of the day which was disappointing, but I got a few snaps in before that happened. I'll post some in a minute. Overall, a great day. I'm still on a high.

15X10 Aluminum Polished Convo's. Won't be keeping them, but I love the width.

It's UU1- Light Blue Metallic. The colour varies a lot depending on the lighting conditions. Sometimes it even looks turquoise.

Thought so, you don't see that color too often on chargers.
I like it, especially with the black vinyl.

I'll take it back to a stock look. It came with the original Magnum 500's and I plan to put them back on with some redlines.
I'm not in a hurry to make the change. I still need to buy the tyres and the Magnums will need a good polish first.
If the Magnums don't come up well, I'll buy a new set of 15X8's.

I already find myself going to the wrong side of my daily driver and my wife's car. I must have driven one of these in a past life I reckon.
As for the rubber necking, my wife took a photo of me driving today and you can clearly see the guy next to me at the lights staring across at us like a voyeur.
I'm not used to all this attention.

Thanks, they do look good, but I actually changed the plates just moments ago. Those blue on black personalised ones were from the previous owner and cost $440 a year to keep, (coincidence $440 for '440') so I replaced them with the ones I had ready on my daily driver. RT440 was taken so I got my initials instead. I think the white on black fits better because of the shorter length which matches the US size/style more and it only costs $90 a year to register.
Here's a pic.

Same here, don't know why but it's weird.   I've never gone to the wrong side of the charger even though technically, it's the wrong side.

We get ripped off when it comes to plates.

You can say that again.  $500.00 for custom plates........what a rip off. Premium Euro plates are $800.00 and if you want a two letter plate it's $4000.00. And it doesn't stop there. ($10,000.00 for a six number plate)
Still, I guess as long as we're willing to buy them..........they'll go right on selling them. Once again, they've got us by the short and curlies.

Tomorrow is promised to no one.......drive your Charger today.

Glad you are making the most of it Fred. Nothing worse than trailer queens or keeping them locked away in the garage.
I start long service in two weeks time and I plan on driving the sh*t out of it.
