Can I connect vapor separator to thermoquad pcv tube?

I have the canister but have not installed it because I don't have a return line.  This used to be a sb car.  In the meantime, can't I just hook the return to the pcv tube on the front of the TQ?

unless i've miss understood what the question is ( normany happens  :slap:)
, the vapour separator thats down by the fuel pump , has nothing to do with the PCV valve ,  the PCV pipe that connects to the base of the carburettor ,  is purely for engine vacuum to draw engine blow by gasses etc through the PCV valve  on either right  or left valve cover ,
the vapour separator has a return line back to the tank ,

now  later years have a more than one return/ vapour line back to a vapour separator near the tank , i'm not too sure how all this is plumbed in ,  but i think , one line is from a vapour separator by fuel pump , the other is from a right side valve cover cap ( looks like a 68 /9 oil filler cap , with extra nipples  , &  a vapour line connects to this from a vent nipple on top of the carburettor . &  to another vapour / return line back to tank or separator.

I have the vapor separator from mega parts but since I don't have the return line I wondered if I could hook the return line end of the canister directly to the carb.  Theoretically it should work...I think.   :icon_smile_big:

Does that return line ever carry and liquid??   There is no check valve or any other kind of device inside the vapor seperator to exclude liquid from the return line.   Can you imagine the effects on your car of dumping a bunch of raw gas in the carb??  Heres a pic from my FSM.

Ah yes, that might be bad.

What do I do with the pcv tube on the carb, simply put a cap on it?

That's what I'd do.  Or since the can now has no function just leave it out.  Also you might check your fuel line from the tank to make sure it doesn't get near any heat sources or has some heat shielding.

Wait you said the PCV port on the carb...that is used to sweep gas and water vapor from your crankcase.  You really need to hook that up to some some kind of PCV valve to help your engine live.

Yeah just figured that one out, I really need to stick my head under the hood from time to time so IO know what's going on.

I may stick the TQ on the intake today so I better get the fire extinguisher ready!   :eek2:

You got me thinking about that PCV port on any carb.   Seems to me that it uses the carb vac to suck things up and the carb is designed for that flow so if you block the port off then it would tend to reduce air into the carb and make it run rich (less air for each pound of fuel.)  If you block it off then you will need to reduce the jet size to compensate or you will have gas washing down your piston walls (bad news for you engine and worse case) or best case...fouling spark plugs.   Maybe others can chime in on advice here......

yep i understand now ,  :yesnod:  don't think i would try that  , no expert on this ,but thinking the vapour has not got any where to go & just build up in the carburettor , fuel does return back to the tank with the stock set up ,  stock pumps supply more than enough fuel & just dead head at idle , or at least when cold  ,   when the engines hot & been for blast down the street or a long run , hardly any comes out , at idle mainly bubbles ( at least with a mechanical pump , flip the electric pump on , filters half full ), i know this cause i fitted a  metered return line from the carb back to the tank , & put a clear plastic filter inline ( tempory  ) just to see what was happening & how well it was working ,
