These are the only things that couldn't be chromed (due to pitting). Has anyone ever bought them? If so, what do you think?

Ghoste

It doesn't help much but a buddy of mine who is into 68's was impressed by a set of those we saw at a swap meet. :shruggy:

Troy

I have the complete tail light assemblies. I've only had them out of the box once but I was very happy then.

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Holy smokes, 950 for tail lights?  I'm glad mine came with my car.  i'm hoping all I have to do is a rechrome at worst like Turbin.

What would a complete NOS set cost?

wow damn it 245 bucks....

I'd be looking at a lot more that that to have mine repaired properly and rechromed.

wow ok, then it looks like a good deal...I was thinking of re chroming, but had to google it and after what you said yeah very hard to do.  guess these will have to do.......

The chrome shop I went to said that I'd be looking at about 10 hours of labor (X $75.00 per hour) to fill & file all of the pits plus plating costs.

Ghoste

Not an easy part to plate either with all of those ridges.

Blusmbl

I bought those for my '68 probably 8 years ago now, was really happy with the quality at the time.  Never tried bolting them to the taillight housings though. :D

PG Classics has them a little cheaper. I believe they make them for BE&A

At least they're now available. I'll have to consider them.

I got a set of bezels from DCS (I think it was) which I believe came from PG Classic. Cheaper to buy them new than rechrome but the housings can run about $50-$100 less depending on which chromer you talk to. Anyway, 2 of the 4 bezels I got had to be modified slightly to fit in the cutout area where they mate at the bottom of the housings. That was pretty irritating. I tried making them work 9 ways to Sunday but they just wouldn't go without carving on them a little with a carbide bit. On top of that they were not painted in the ribbed area so I taped off the smooth chrome area real good and sanded the ribs down for primer and paint. I can't say I'm too thrilled about how this all turned out but that's the way it is. The BEA sets might be better but as far as I know they are all made at the same place.

RIDELIKEHELL

I think I paid around $850 when I ordered mine  :eek2: They are nice but my originals were mia and getting some redone is alot of $...time will only tell how they hold up and if I made the right choice

Ya know... :scratchchin:

Several years ago...

I had a fairly decent pair of '68 Charger taillights.

I didn't want them.

So...

I took them to the swap meet.

I had them marked $5 for the pair. :coolgleamA:

No takers. :shruggy:

Three or four swap meets later... ::)

I still had them. :brickwall:

Still marked five bucks. :slap:

So...

Weeks go by...

The next door neighbor was outside building "something"...

I said...

"Hey Joe !"

"Whatchadoin'"? :shruggy:

He said:

"I'm building a trailer to haul my lawn mower on"... :coolgleamA:

"Say"...

"You ain't got any junk tail light layin' around do ya"? :shruggy:

I said:

"Just a minute".... :scratchchin:

"Here ya go" ;)

It's the only utility trailer that I know of with '68 Charger taillights on it. :smilielol:

He keeps it parked in his Mom's backyard.

She lives right around the corner from me... :scratchchin:

And it's dark outside ;)
