Which door handle push button is correct for 68 Charger?

I have a black plastic button on one side and a chrome button on the other.  Which is correct for a 68?

If I did my homework, my '69 was built in August of '68 and has black buttons. So I would agree with the other person in saying that black would be correct...

yeah mine has black buttons too , with a SPD of november 22nd 68 ,  pretty sure all 69s built in 68 had black buttons , not sure when the cut off was , for chrome  , example early january 69 assembled cars , was there a spacific time they changed out to chrome say january 2nd ,

All 68's had the black door handle button.  Not sure either when they changed. My June built 69 has the chrome buttons.

Yeah, I dunno what time it specifically changed.  Probably different from plant-to-plant.  But it was definitely a mid-year change on the 1969 cars. 



When's the last time you heard of something like a door handle starting out plastic and then being changed over to metal?

Thanks to all.  My wife says she got the car with an extra door and fender and her father in law pulled the parts from the spare.  Problem solved.
