You just got word that in his Will you were given $10,000.  You took the Mrs out for dinner, did some shopping, bought some furniture, new porch on the house, and are left with $7,500.

What car are you buying? Make? Model? Engine? Color?  Note: You can buy any car from 66-74 new for some reason at the local dealership (Crazy I know).

I could go with a 71 Cuda OR 70 Challenger Hemi 4 speed Convertible.  I would have to go triple black on both.  Shoot... I could go with a black Daytona Hemi 4 speed as well. hmm... decisions decisions.

Final answer: 71 Cuda.  I want the vert.

Mytur Binsdirti

Screw the Hemi Cuda convertible. Using hindsight (and a time machine), with a $7,500.00 budget, you'd really have to go with either a used 427 AC Cobra, GT40, or a couple of late 1950's-early 60's Ferraris.

F8-4life

fm3 pink 70 charger rt 4 sp 6 pck, or maybe a 999 petty blue 70 roadrunner vert hemi auto.

Hemi C500 blk/blk 4 speed
70-1 Buick GSX yellow. I think they may have even made a handfull of 72's that were funky red ans blue. Not sure maybe worth more but i'd still like the yellow.

Hell with cars, I would invest in IBM, then buy all the cars I want.

When I got out of the army in 70 I went to my local Dodge dealer to buy a 1970 Challenger convertible 440, 4spd, purple with white interior and I don't remember the price. When I got there the car had been sold so I went back in the new car lot and there was a  loaded 70 Charger with all the fixins  for right around $4900. as I am walking back through the used lot there sets a  69 B5 blue C500 with 6320 miles on it for $3900 a no frills car and I bought it, still have it and the rest is history...

Also agree, one word plastics, & oil stocks. Car wise 69 Hemi Daytona, 4-spd. & all the N.O.S. sheetmetal I could lay my hands on.

Since we are talking about 1969 it would be something 69 or earlier, or maybe even up-to the early 70 year models... If we limit it to just Mopar's than... A 69-1/2 Rally Green "pickle" A12 440-6bbl 4 speed Dana 60 Road Runner, or A 68 Hemi Dart LO23 SS or a 68 Barracuda Hemi BO29 SS, or a 69 Daytona Hemi 4 speed Dana 60 in triple black, or 68 Hemi Charger 4speed Dana 60, or even 65 Belvedere or Coronet A990 would also be nice, or a 70 Hemi 4 speed Dana 60 Superbird, a 70 T/A Challenger & a 70 AAR Cuda, or even a 70 Hemi Cuda & 70 Cuda Challenger Convertibles.... But for a real stretch on the time machine...LOL... Petty's old race cars... But the best thing would be to put some of the money into R&D/Stocks for Microsoft or Apple founders creations, for a piece of the pie latter on down the road, after it's invented... Then you could buy anything you want latter down the road...  :nana:

Everybody is replying by what they know now of those cars of that era,so it's expected to have responces like that,so,given it "was" 1970,I'd have to say the new car I would have bought is a Buick GSX in Saturn Yellow.

GSX Stage 1, Great choice too, even a Ram Air IV equipped GTO "The Judge" also, or even Chevelle LS6 454-SS, or even a W30 442 Hurst edition...

How about a 68-69-70 Talladega or Cyclone Aero cars, even the Boss 429 Torinio/Cobra or Boss 429 or even the Boss 302 Mustangs, really the only Mustangs I like, other than 69-70 Mach1 or 67-69 Shelby's, any of them would be great investment for now, from back then...

Well Said...  Like your choices, options, and cragar comment!    :2thumbs:

JB400

Considering everyone is picking the higher performance cars, I think I'd go ahead and pick my car.  I would pick a different color though.  Plain jane 69 with a 383 4bbl, auto, Hemi orange.  It should be cheap enough to get a Z10 Camaro as well being we have a $7,500 budget(not sure on actual prices).  Also, I might still be able to enjoy it during the impending gas crunch.

Cooter

First, I'd go into the local Dodge dealer and buy something with a Hemi. Then, of course, once the gas crunch hit, and the insurance was too much to pay for, I'd be like many who over-paid for the 2008 Challengers and be selling it for half what I paid or trading it in on a new VW Micro bus.

Sound familiar old timers?
" I have spent thousands of dollars and countless hours researching what works and what doesn't and I'm willing to share"

bull

Pay off the house, or at least cut the mortgage term in half depending on how long you've had it.

What if the uncle repeatedly molested you. You'd need the money for therapy.
Not that I have any experience with that....
