Turn the Motor Manually

Quick question.

Can you turn the crank/engine over by hand with the fan and radiator in place?  It looks like there is enough room, but I haven't tried yet.

Getting ready to do the pre-lube before the cam break-in, and from what I understand, you can't just run the drill in the oil pump for a few minutes, you need to turn the engine over slowly as well to get oil to both sides of the block/valves.

I don't want to rely on bumping the starter to do that, and to get it back to TDC.

Not on my Hemi. The fan has to come off, but the rad is ok. Took I think a 1 and 1/2 socket, and a long 30" pry bar. And then a whole lotta man-force to move all that motor.

  from the top  , can on mine just , but only a 8th of a turn , at a time  ,  then reposition socket &  breaker bar ,  have a flexi fan still on there !! ,  taking plugs out its much easier ! but done loads of times with plugs in     , not put the oem fan back on yet ,  could do it from the under side , but same deal as the top , can only turn it a little at a time .  but now there is a thick aftermarket sway bar in the way & stock routed trans cooler lines now pretty much a waste of time ,

Hmmm.  So considering the amount of time that it takes to remove the fan and shroud, A guy should probably remove those, prime the motor, put those back on and be good to go.  The radiator can stay in place and be filled and ready to go?

I remember reading somewhere that it's good to let the oil trickle and seep for a while anyway after the priming?  Is this right?  Somewhere else it said that don't wait too long or the prelube on the cam/rods will wash off.  I don't see how that could happen, really.  It's not like the motor oil is a solvent.  Does that sound right?
