It'll be interesting to see if the guy shows up again Ken.  Hopefully when you're around too if he does.  :D

Evening, another busy day. Seems I will have surgery 01-22-13. It is a out patient surgery so I guess it will be done in the parking lot.  ;D

Far as my wife telling the guy that Miss Lumpy is not for sale, I know she wishes she was. Today while I was packing up some train stuff I was not packing the stuff so we could get in the attic. Shes has been hounding me for 6 years now about getting some crap out of the attic, train layout is under the attic door I was staring at the far end of the layout.

She asked me why I was packing stuff from the far end?  :shruggy: Told her I am getting ready to take the layout apart. She said "That will make it easy to get into the attic"! Then she  :scratchchin: for a few seconds and asked "Why are you taking the layout down? We only need to get in from under the door"?

Told her so I could get the Road Runner in the garage again. Again a few brain cells started clunking together. (With my wife, clunking and not clicking seems to be the right term) She asked me why I was going to pull in the Road Runner?  :scratchchin: Told her so I could start doing the Body Work. Then she got the  :eek2: faces and she went off!  :smilielol: Well screw her, my house and my garage!  :D She doesn't like it, well take it from there folks.

I am getting quicker on wrapping the train cars. I have 32 in the box, only 328 to go! I would have had way more done but I had the Doctors appointment. Only took me 30 minutes 26 cars so I am getting quicker.  ;D

Well what you folks have been waiting for!  :2thumbs:

The new tank and sending unit should make a big difference.  Good luck with it.  I have always loved Roadrunners.  :2thumbs:

Not really anything to up date at this point. Had planed on more packing tonight but things went south. I should have had Monday off, so I was going to pack tonight. Then Monday scan, print and fill out paper work for my lawyer for the never ending battle against Bank Of Stupid! 15 Minutes before closing tonight I was faxed a new schedule and I have to work Monday in St Charles MO.  :brickwall: Have to leave by 9:15 to get there on time.

I just spent the last two hours getting the paper work done. I hope to still have it in the mail sometime Monday.

Allen, when does your Christmas break start?

Biggest thing right now I need help with is getting this stuff packed and getting rid of junk. Then Miss Lumpy can come in from the snow. :2thumbs: Until then there will not be a lot to post about.

Ken, and Thank You All Again!

Hum, :scratchchin: something just dawned to me?

What are theses two outlets for?  :scratchchin: I did not think anything of it when I first saw them, one is for the vent and the other is the gas line!  ;) But, now that I think about it, the vent and gas line is in the sending unit!

Do they need to be weld close?

Confused again, Ken :shruggy:

if they arent needed, i would just run fuel line from one to the other and clamp them both. :2thumbs:

When the old tank comes out it should be more clear.  One should be a vent but I don't recall why there are two ports. :shruggy:

Just looked in the 68 FSM. They are both for vent tubes.

Confused again, Ken :shruggy:
the smaller ones on the actual fuel tank needs to go to the vent hoses that rout thru the truck to outside, the smaller of the 2 on the fuel pick-up/sending unit nipples, is a return line from the vapor canister on certain years usually 1/4" IIRC, I used it as a bypass line on my fuel system, but mine was a Stainless Steel 1/2" fuel pick-up/sending unit from Mancini Racing, the larger 1 of them on the fuel pick-up/sending unit, is the fuel supply outlet, for the main fuel supply line to your fuel pump... not sure if that helps you any, should be a dark blue wire that goes on the little threaded stud for your fuel gauge on the tank sending unit, it works buy resistance thru a ground {it doesn't have 12vt power}, there should be a flat metal ground strap that goes from the sending unit larger nipple to the fuel line, snaps on the sending unit & the other end snaps on the fuel line, it also acts as a ground for you fuel gauge, you need to ground the fuel pick-up/sending unit, because it's insulated from the metal being grounded, by the rubber seal ring under the sending unit to the tank {some of them rubber seals aren't either thick enough or you need to bend the little wedge type locking tabs out some on the sending unit, so it will seal good on the aftermarket type tanks & sending units, pretty common affair}, or your gas gauge want work if you don't some how ground the sending unit to the chassis or if you still have metal fuel lines, that's where the factory grounded it...

Did not feel great today but after some running I felt like playing with Miss Lumpy. When I got home the first thing I did was hook up the battery charger for a hour on slow charge, should be 2 amps.

While I was charging Miss Lump, I packed up the gas tank and started wrapping more train car's. Wrapped till I was out of bubble wrap, that took a hour. 49 Train Cars down, 301 more to go?  :shruggy:

Went outside and checked the oil, starting to look a little nasty so it is time again. Hope I don't mess anything up this time.  :eek2: Dump some gas down the carb and was ready to hear the sweet sound of a BB Mopar. Cranked her over, and would not hit?  :scratchchin: Road Runner is hot wired at this point and I do have power to the - side of the coil.

By this time it was getting a little late so I did not trouble shoot. If I where to take a wild guess I say I have cooked the condenser from by passing the ballast resistor.  :brickwall:

Off to the engine section, been a long time sens I have had to trouble shot a Ignition System.

I will up date Friday.

OK Ken. It's been 4 or 5 days now and no word on Miss Lumpy. Are you still packing trains? You should be about done with the packing, so now it's time to get her in the garage to be warm and get her some much needed love. Tell Miss Lumpy...Merry Christmas from all of us and let her know the New Year is gonna be a better one.

Well Ken wish I could have gotten over there this week, came down with the flue Monday night, have not done much but sleep.  It has been a rough Christmas in many ways.  Hope to get that tank instaled soon.  Merry Christmas.

Hey folks, sorry it has been so long. Have had a lot of stuff going on, some good and a heap of bad.

OK, good news! Went to the VA Hospital for another skin graft. Wound is darn near healed! They think that there is a 60% chances the wound will be gone next week!  :2thumbs:

Anyway, back to Miss Lumpy! Today was a beautiful day. If you remember the last time I posted my ignition failed, no spark. All so found that the coil was wired backwards!  :slap:Bryan posted in the engine section the point style points system will run when wired backwards  :slap: but at half  the voltage. Hum,I think 41 Husk (Allen) installed the coil when we first got her running this summer?  :scratchchin: Bought a new condenser last week. Today while I was out and about I all so bought a coil just in case.

First thing I did today when I started working on her was test the coil. Corrected the wiring, hooked power up to the oil, touched a wire to the - side of the coil and touched the motor for a ground. We have spark!  :2thumbs: So I did not fry the coil!

So I popped the cap and just stared? Man it has been a long time scenes I have worked on this!   It is a Accel Dual point, first thing I had to do to get to the condenser was pull the upper bearing plate. Hooked a real strong magnet to the screw driver, if I dropped one I was screwed. Then I had to pull one of the bearing support column to get the set of points out that the condenser is hooked to.

Next I pulled the points, and wired in the new condenser. Reinstalled that was a bit of a challenge, wire seemed a tad to short on the condenser. Sat the point I removed to .018 gap. Not sure if it is .018 or just plain .18 but the gap is correct.

All I have to do is install the top bearing plate, hook up the points, rotor and stick the cap and it is time for the sound of Mopar!  :2thumbs:

http://s83.photobucket.com/user/cudaken/media/Charger%20Site/1-12-27002_zps638b588d.jpg.html]

Hum, Huston, we have a problem!  :brickwall: Seems the condenser is about a 1/8 of a inch to long!  :o If you look at the picture you can see the holes are not lined up for the bearing cap! Dam, so close but still no Miss Lumpy. :'( :'(

It was to late for another parts run, so I packed some more train cars.

While I was playing with her I saw this odd color stain.

http://s83.photobucket.com/user/cudaken/media/Charger%20Site/1-12-27003_zps1e32699c.jpg.html]

I know the Accelerator pump leaks, but I never seen the gas stain look green before?  :shruggy:

Hoping for another good day weather again when I am off Ken, posting again!  :2thumbs:

I think I have the correct sizes condenser now. Stop by Auto Stupid on the way home. I handed the young sales clerk the old condenser and he had no clue to what it was?  We fond it by looking up a 1967 Caprices (Yuck) but it seems the same sizes, well it might be 1/32 longer but I think it will work.

I have a chances at having next Sunday off. I called Jim, and he said he is in if the weather is nice. Called Allen and I was hung up on twice? I am pretty sure Allen knows my humor and knows I was kidding about him wiring the coil backwards! When we could not get the Road Runner started the first time, Allen pulled the MSD coil and replaced it with the stock one it has now. I am sure Allen wired it like I had the MSD wired so it still my fault.

Back to train wrapping.

Cuda Ken, and Thank You Folks Again!
