After about a 12 yr. vacation  from painting, I tried it again and of course I screwed it up, my question is , will the clear-coat take care of orange peel in the base coat? Or is it hello sandpaper and elbow grease? Don't laugh too hard please, I figured out where I went wrong-I think. (lack of air volume in a HVLP gun). Color in question is dark-blue w/ very slight metallic. Thanks

if you sand the metallic it will look bad,it needs to be sanded & re sprayed.

I have to laugh every time I hear the air specs for HVLP guns. Sure, they work great, but I'm running around 40 psi minimum.

I know what you mean, I've done it before w/ this gun but this time I forgot to open the vol. screw. After the third coat, I said screw it and went and saw Jack ( Daniels).

You will need to sand with 600-800 wet and put another coat to even out metallic.

My bad- was trying to save some time and work by doing a hood and fender off the car . Comparison shows the paint match was nowhere close (PPG Omni, btw). Back to DuPont ChromaColor and clear. I'll be using my old Devilbis ( even though it's not PC.) Seems like trying to take the easy way out ALWAYS bites you in the a$$. Thanks

What are you trying to paint? Are you trying to match paint on the car?

Next time go with Deltron, you'll be happier with the result.
