So I was surfing Craigslist and saw this ad.  Says it's a floating trailer for when there's no dock.    I've never seen this before.   Just thought it was interesting.

Doesn't sound like it'd work to well for unloading boats.  I guess if the boat was heavy enough to sink the trailer.

going off track a bit  , when i read the subject of Chuckies post !!  floating boat trailer , thought it was going to be something like was on mythbusters , where the myth was can a boat still move through the water with a trailer still attached   ,  :yesnod:

I was actually looking forward to some sort of photo shopped image that would have you rubbing your eyes when you had too many beers, does it get it out of the water when its on water ? training wheels for boats, anti barnacle shield, owner was too lazy to de-barnacle , maybe we are looking at the result of an accident, any one looked underneath, lol

That's a rare boat.   It's one of the first inboard outboard boats.

i'm confused again.  we just back the trailer into the water, the trailer never needed to float, the only people who need a dock are the ones that can't figure out how to tow it back and forth

I think I've figured it out.   I think what they mean is if there's no ramp.       :shruggy:

Either way I really don't see the major benefit of having a floating boat trailer.

Talked to my great uncle. He says they were semi-popular back in the 70's. Supposedly they were for places with very little parking. You would drop boat and trailer off into the water then go park your car into the parking lot. You drive the boat and trailer to a spot and anchor the trailer then go boating. Then you would come back and park the boat in the floating trailer like a portable dock. When done you would drive boat and trailer back to the launch, get your car out of parking, hook up, and drive away.

They make a floating dock almost identical to those for Jetskis.
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.
