This is the only one I have ever seen!  A 1969 Dodge Charger press release kit that was scheduled to be released September 1, 1968.  It includes a press release photo and another black and white photo which I think was printed out on photo paper as there appears to be lines in that picture.  The press release picture of the 69 Hemi Charger with the wording under it is definitely the original one.  There is also a 4 page typed up information packet pertaining to sales and such.  I have had this for easily 10 years now and I thought it was either lost or stolen at a show since I have not seen it for about 8 years or so now.  Luckily Dad was going through the book shelf where we had a bunch of literature for our former El camino that we compiled over the years and came across some of my charger stuff intermixed along with the el camino stuff.  Thankfully, Dad was smart enough not to toss this as I had paid quite a bit of money for it and was pretty pissed that it was either lost or stolen out of the literature I bring to shows.  So, now that it is back in my possession, I wanted to share it all with my fellow charger bretheren.   :2thumbs:

Bryan,

Its obviously not the same car just from it having what appears to be a white and black interior vs. the more than likely tan interior on that hemi car if they used the same gold hemi car from other promotional pics.  Again, I am not 100% certain that the interior pic was original to the kit.  It might have been but someone might have taken a picture or scanned it or something as there are what appears to be printer "lines" on the photo paper.

You're very welcome.  To keep something this scare to ones self would be criminal.  Something this rare needs to be shared so other people can enjoy it as much as I did.  Has anyone ever seen something like this before?

I too am glad you shared these bits of history with us. Take care of them for those that follow.
This a good alert to others to look through the stuff you may me thinking of tossing.

Looking back at it, Im very surprised that I actually won the item off of ebay back in the day.  I thought for sure my max bid would have been outbid even though it was easily over $100 for it.

I'm surprised it took something like this, this long to surface.  Has any other press release kits come to light as well?

This is pretty cool.  Thanks for sharing :2thumbs: :coolgleamA:

This has been the only one that I have ever seen.  I do also have a 1969 Dodge White Hat Special promotional sale items but the only thing charger related on that is the paint color swatch of the new F6 green.  I'll have to try and get some pics of that and throw them up on here.

AH HA that's explains the two different locations. I always wondered why.

Interesting, I had all this time thought it was to make it harder to reach for thieves.

resq302

Makes sense.  You figure the 68s were back almost in line with the seat back which would have made it so the person would have almost had to twist around. :scratchchin: :scratchchin:

It is/was the only one I have seen in 30 years of collecting/buying 69 Charger info. I actually bid on it when it was on ebay. Glad it is in good hands! When I saw the scans of it on Chris's 69Charger site, I wondered if it was the one from ebay. Now I know it was. I do have the press release photo shown as well as others. The photos appear on ebay occasionally. Thanks for posting. :2thumbs:

The lock knob change is also mentioned in the dealer data book.

About 7-8 years ago I bought one for a 68 Dart. Same idea as the Charger one but more info and pics as it covered all Dart models; sedan, convertible, hardtop, base model, GTS etc. The 69 Charger and 68 Dart are the only ones I have seen in many years of collecting literature. You would think there must be others still out there somewhere.

   so  you are the guy who drove the price up over $100 or was it $150!    That was when I was fairly new and was collecting anything that had to do with a 69 charger.  Ah yes, the young and foolish days..... now I'm just foolish!   :smilielol:

Sweet! I'm still trying to find a 73 Charger Press Release Kit hoping it has pictures of a certain (or identical) 440 Rallye press preview car in it.
