I shared this with the guys over on my board, figured you guys may appreciate it as well.

I started to strip down the engine bay with the aircraft stripper but there was about 3-4 coats and the stripper wasn't doing much ...so I called a soda blaster here in South NJ

I am a big fan of this soda blasting so far, was very happy to see she is pretty much rust free up front(aside from where the battery tray is located, hate to get a whole apron if anyone knows where I cant get replacement metal for just that area please let me know)

shes going to get the engine bay prepped so it can painted hopefully soon (in retrospect I should have done the whole car now but was trying to get it ready in a hurry for Carlisle)

My Charger was acid-dipped to rid it of rust and paint and there was also a bad spot with a hole in the apron below the battery tray . WE just used a plasma-cutter to cut a patch out of sheet metal and cut it and cut out around the hole at the same time for the great fit. We just welded in the patch and grinded the weld down and when the Charger was primered and painted, you could not tell the patch was there! I am thinking I remember the hole was about the same size as yours.

The back of the car was another story! Just about had to replace all the back of the car due to it  being not savable because of the rust! Look at these "before and after" pictures

Never dealt with a soda-blasted Charger but yours came out great!

Should get some kind of conditioner/ metal prep on asap. Need to keep the oxygen meanies from mating with the steel and making rust babies.

Thanks for posting those pictures! My Charger is originally white, however the red is growing on me and I think how good yours looks just sealed the deal for my car going back in red

WS-The soda blaster told me if I keep it inside it wont flash, I was very skeptical (its been over a week) so I decided to put it to the test and not coat it ....the only thing that actually flash rust so far was the K Frame! (I cleaned it and put some WD40 on it) its kind of a cool (but risky) experiment.

She should be in primer in a couple days :)

Thanks for the compliment on the color! My Charger is originally R6 Red and that is what color we repainted it. Instead of basecoat/clearcoat like most use these days, I used a single-stage acrylic enamel similar to what the factory used and it came out pretty well.
