I think over the next ten years a lot of us old-time Charger nuts will be repeating versions of this story.

In 2006 after selling our first Charger R/T numbers matching 4-speed to some guy from France my wife suggested I start another project with our son. After months of searching we found a 1970 banana yellow Charger that needed a total re-do. After 3 and /2 years it was done-5 coats of paint, replaced shot up door panels, rusted out floors, new transmission, suspension, electrical and a Hemi, brakes, interior and we did it all ourselves other than the body. It became our pride and joy and, even though it was a hemi, we drove it regularly, took it to a couple of car shows, burned up some tires and generally did all the things a father and son want to do together to a car. My son has now gotten married and has a child of his own with no time for a car, as it should be. This coming Friday night/Saturday I am hauling it by myself by trailer from Louisville to south-central Pennsylvania to its new owner in Glen Rock. A nice guy, a car nut, but not really a Mopar guy. Mixed feelings here and don't really know what to say other than sadness that it is time to sell the car because of my age but knowing it is the right thing to do.  I still have 1 old project car left but do not have the interest in working on it now. Guys-enjoy your time with the kids, the cars and the great connections we make in this hobby. If you take 1 bit of advice from another forum member I just wish I would have been more involved with other Mopar guys so that maybe it could have gone to someone more in tune with the Charger. On the bright side maybe a new guy can join up.

Thanks for your help in this forum guys-never met anyone personally but have corresponded through here with a couple of good guys and 1 or 2 old farts! And thanks to the Forum moderators for keeping the search engine working and the old references online. And finally thanks to the movie Bullit for bringing this magnificent car to the masses-I stlll think the 2nd genertion Charger is the best looking American car ever made, period.

No need to leave the board. Just hang out and you'll re-live another version of a story. You know, the one where we keep asking bout that other project car, and soon enough, you begin to catch the fever again. :2thumbs:

Sounds like you're ready for a new chapter in your life.  New hobby maybe or fixing things around the house?   Maybe some traveling?    Good luck to you with whatever your new venture may be.   By all means stick around.

If Cuda Ken can come back after seven years you can too, but why wait until then, hang around even if just to lurk.

Be at peace with yourself that you had the joy to spend time with your son and together the two of you saved another Charger from the scrap pile. Who knows maybe in a few years you will have a grandson or granddaughter  who will look forward to hanging out with Grandpa in the Garage. The fire inside us never goes out, it just smolders waiting for that fresh breath of youth.
