A carbine has a shorter barrel than a long gun generally. a shortened version of a rifle. Consequently, lighter.

Exactly. Rock river refers to their 16" barrel tactical rifles as CAR models (short for carbine).

My newest additions to the collection. The Benelli M4. New Canadian made mag tube extensions are now in place (not shown).

I'll take a M-14 or a AR-10 over all the above.

John_Kunkel

Well, if you're a collector, the M-14 or a AR-10 are like a**holes....everybody's got one. I'm more interested in the not-so-common. To each his own.

Patronus, are you saying we the people should wait for the army to protect us. I think that would be worse than waiting for the police to help you.

No, of course not. Those two Bennys would do just fine.
Help? I reckon I give more than I get.
It's a bit conflicted for me to be honest. I know what those weapons are meant to do. Hell, they all pretty much do the same thing. A permanent solution to a temporary problem. I've been brought up with them. I revere them. Nowadays Im into anything with an octagon barrel... I only need a couple rounds. Unless you got a 60?  :D

I guess I'm just an American patriot and love and trust our weapons the most. Buy American, Be American. To each their own. Peace Bro.

John_Kunkel

Some Americans like to think that everything American is superior (no wonder we're so hated) but the reality is we've been trumped in the weapons department many times over.

Classic case is the FN49 I posted above; because of the time frame it never had to compete with the much-touted M1 Garand (I have two of those) but many experts in their field acknowledge that it is better than the Garand in many ways. The FAL (Belgian) was almost chosen as the U.S. standard battle rifle (politics intervened there) and the current U.S. standard sidearm is the (Italian) Beretta.

I relish the fact that my taste (pun intended ;D)  in weapons differs from the mainstream and patriotism be damned.

I appreciated the pic of the fn49 it was like seeing a lost child    :yesnod: in 10 years of rely hard use in some of Australia's worst regions it never missed a beat(30-06) , mine got destroyed during the "mandatory"  gun buy back perpetrated on the Australian people by john howard   :brickwall:   sorry for the crappy pic but only one I have
