I have a persistant slight stumble on take off with my Charger. I have a 383, headers, stock dizzy, aluminum intake with a Holley 750 vacuum secondary.

I have the timing set at about 12ish initial, the float is slightly above the bottom of the clear site and (I think) I have adjusted the accelerator pump correctly.

The motor runs smooth at 3000 rpms (I was getting a break up above that which I attribute to timing) so I'm happy with cruise performance.

Any thoughts?

I had the exact same problem. I installed a larger accel pump and size .40 squirter and fixed the problem.

You mentioned a stock distributor.  Make sure the points are OK and other ignition issues are OK.  I assume you have, but mention it because I didn't when I had a similar problem and I think most of it was related to the points.

I would then ask to see if someone here has specific information on what accelerator pump cam, squirter nozzle, and jets that worked on a similar set up.  Unfortunately, I do not know enough to give specific recommendations.
Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

Agreed, sounds like Squirter pump shot needs to be tuned.

Stock distributor is electronic converstion--it is new so I'm sure (?) it is okay.

anything that timing can do? When the car is hot, the stumble seems to not be as pronounced.

Thanks!

you might be able to bump the timing up a degree or two advanced also, especially if it has an aftermarket cam or intake & carb etc., the CEI usually have an adjustable vacuum pod for the vacuum advance you can mess with the adjustment on that too, along with the carb tuning mentioned...

if it is worse cold I would bet it is going lean , make sure there is no play in the linkage any paly will cause a hesitation . Bump up the sqirter size 1-2 sizes 31 goto 35 for example .

Bill have you gone thru all the other things that we have mentioned in regards to tuning your holley that you have asked about in your previous threads???

Go step by step as suggested, check one thing at a time....did you put a vac gauge on it yet???

Does it do it when it's cold or hot or both? I had the same thing when cold, but after the car came up to temp it got better, it was a vac leak on the intake, after it got hot, the metal expanded and sealed it a bit.
