Several 72 6bbls are known to exist and all factory literature points to them being available. They were not produced for very long (1-2 weeks?) but they were made.

I'm not 100% on this but there was 2 6pac RR and 2 6pac Chargers. I believe the one in Michigan was owned by a guy named Mike who passed away some time ago. There was a youtube video of the charger at some swap meet car show in the early 90's.I think there was a member that was looking for one. Nakita7 I think was his name. He has all the answers to this.

There is a thread on Moparts about a 72 RR GTX sixpack sunroof car,it's red w/white top.He was thinking about selling it,but changed his mind.

Chargerguy74

Yes, there were 72 6 pack Rallye cars built, all automatics. The 440 6 pack was an available option for '72. When the option was pulled exactly I'm unsure.

There was 2 1972 Dodge Charger V-code cars and 1 1972 Plymouth Road Runner V-Code car.

I shot the Road Runner personally and brought it to MCACN.

I know that both V-code Chargers are not for sale.  So sounds like a scam.

Rumors of additional cars to the others mentioned have circulated for years, so it would be worth checking out for sure.

Four speed was N/A with Six pack or 440 with A/C.

My wife own's a -72 Ralley 440/833/dana60/airgrabberhood topbanana yellow  :icon_smile_big:

Lots of flakey stuff on that car. Bench seat shifter location with buckets. A/C car (n/a w/ 440 4spd as previously mentioned). Non-Rallye doors. Lo-Po manifolds.

All signs point to a 440 transplant into a lo-po Charger. The A/C pretty much seals it as not being a v-code.

My research indicates more like 9 built and yes there was a four speed car no actually 2 four speeds. One RR and one Charger.   Mikes 72 440-6 Charger has a real interesting twist that ties into the you tube video [ 84 mopar nationals ] where he speaks of the "illegal engine", but you will have to wait to hear that story.

I have a collection of old motor trends, car and driver, etc from the period.  Basically anything regarding chrysler B-bodies that was in print.  I found an article that mentioned the Six Pak for '72. What was suprising was it states the 440 Six Pak finally passed emissions testing but dealer's were not interested and it was canned.  I always believed it never passed emission's tests  :shruggy:

Does anyone here have any real photos or documentation of any real ones ?? or know where they are any of the real "rare" 72 440-6bbl RR's or 440-Six Pack Chargers... just curious, I would like to see them.....

Some are known & mentioned earlier in the thread.

If you go to http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/library.shtml & read up on the 1972 models in the data there, the 1972 440-6 info is mentioned several times in several documents.

TheAutoArchaeologist

I personally shot the 72 Road Runner 440-6.

http://www.carsinbarns.blogspot.com/2012/04/myth-and-legend-1972-440-6-plymouth.html

And both 72 Chargers 440-6 cars have been in MCG.

I've researched these cars up the ying yang.  I talked to several experts and even talked with Galen (I know everyone hates him, but he is very knowledgeable)

And everything that I uncovered was that 3 cars were built.  The only other one that was suppose to have existed was the magazine car, and that turned out to be a 71 dressed as a 72.

There was factory documentation, I forget where it was said, but no 4-speeds with 440-6 in 72.

EDIT... here is where it says no 4-speed with a 440-6 in 1972.... http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/images/dealerships/DealershipDataBook/1972/72_Charger0014.jpg

The only one I could quickly find was May 2009.  Has a girl in a purple top on the cover   This is about the yellow car.

I can not remember how far back the orange one was in.

Here though is alot more information on the cars.
