Saved another one ~ 1970 Dodge Coronet 500 - 1 of 1509 factory 383 cars made that year... This one has super cool options, including high impact paint, black vinyl top, black highback buckets with Buddy Seat (auto on the column), power front disc brakes, fender mounted turn signals, front & back bumperettes, AC, power steering, and I think it had a six way drivers seat and magnum 500s, but those were missing off the car already, along with the fender tag.  You can see its all original, down to the paint, it was parked in 1981 according to the rear tag.  It still has its original, numbers matching motor and tranny  :yesnod:

I originally bought this car for a parts car, but as soon as I got it home I decieded I couldnt part it out, so I tarped it and plan a full restoration one day... Now I really need a parts car, with two 70 Coronet 500s to fix up...    :icon_smile_big:

Thought I would share a few pics ~ Enjoy

That is the best front end on those cars, congrats.

Is that a black snake by the little guys left foot?
Seen that car on craigslist the other day, was wondering which yard those cars came from.

Love it, or hate it Bug wing grilles. I like 'em. not as repulsive as some front ends from Mopar.
So? Super Bee? Or Super Bird?

Wow, that is a cool car. Is the carpet/back seat in it? May have a build sheet.

Yes, that does look like a snake by the little guys foot. hahaha

Good score, first 500 I have ever seen that didn't have the trim in the 1/4 scoop.

Thank you Drache for posting the pictures... Yes those are fender mounted turn signals... Already looked for buildsheet, couldnt find it...  :shruggy:  The car was missing the steering wheel, drivers side bucket, the bottom part of the back seat, wheels, rearend, driveshaft, wiper motor, booster, and one grill.  The other grill was mint, took it off before anything happened to it.  It has the side trim instead of the quarter bezel like my other 500... Along with a special piece to fill that gap to allow the side trim to run accorss it evenly... Will post a picture of it...  And yes, that is a TOY rubber black snake, my son Blaine (2 years old) found that while walking around the boneyard with dad, and he picked it up and showed me before I knew he found it... Took me a few seconds to realize it wasnt a real snake, lol... My son kept the snake and brought it home to play with.  I have no idea why there was a rubber snake in the middle of an old junkyard, leave it to my two year old to find it and grab it before anyone can stop him...  :yesnod:

Freaking awesome, saving a car from the crusher is always Badass, and 70's are my favorite coronet  :drool5:

The license plate on the back was a Missouri tag, with a 1981 sticker, so this car was parked when it was only 11 years old... Thats why the front clip and doors are in such nice shape... little to no dings or dents... I will be tracking down the missing pieces as they pop up.  I dont know anything else about the car, have the license plate from the back... Would love to talk to the previous owner to find out more about the car, but at this point dont know what the next step would be, or how to track any info by an old license plate, as Im sure its not in the system since its been off the road for the last 32 years...  Any one in the Kansas City area remember this car??

ralley72

I bet your son was thrilled to death to find that rubber snake, just gotta love it. Great time with dad. Whats the name of that yard? I thought I saw on craigslist they had a few more Mopars there forsale. Good save, If I had any parts for your car I would try to help you out, but I don't have any.

Muncies Auto Salvage, off Kansas Ave ~ they had 2 first gen. chargers, a 67 Belvedere II, a few darts, a few first gen Barracudas, some C bodys (cool chrysler 300 convertible with buckets, center console, and hideaway headlights), a few 4 door B bodys, I pulled the best Mopar out of the yard.  My buddy pulled a 64 Dodge 2 door out of there right after I pulled the Coronet out.  They had a lot of tri-five chevys, most there stuff is GM or Ford, but still a cool place to walk around and find parts...
