My 71 RT has a second tag also, was told that it may be a dealer special order tag. Not 100% sure.

Nothing weird or special about it. It's a typical inspection tag for a Lynch Road built car.

thanks guys  :2thumbs: now the question is why do some have it and some don't ? my charger hasn't got the second tag and I've seen others without it, so was it only certain shifts or days that received the second tag ?  things like this I've just got to know, can't help myself  :shruggy:

This type is common to 1971 & up Lynch Road cars, so if your other car is from a different plant it would not have one.

I just learned something new about mopars...  :o   Interesting...  :2thumbs:

So after an inspector passed the rig, he/she would stamp their corresponding letter that designated their approval on the 2nd tag correct?

The procedure varied by plant and by year. Some plants used extra tags like the LR tag above, Hamtrack used a small square tag, LA used a thin ribbon strip, STL just punched through the tag. The different types of inspection stamps are as varied as the number of plants and years. Inspection tags are pretty common.

Hard to say, lynch Rd was a little sketchy documenting things.....

For the guys with 1971 Lynch Road cars;

Who has the second tag, who does not & what is your scheduled production date (SPD) from the option tag?

I have one set of two here with 617 (June 17, 1971) as the SPD.

For the ORIGINAL OWNERguys with 1971 Lynch Road carsthat know their inspection tags could not have been removed;

Who has the second tag, who does not & what is your scheduled production date (SPD) from the option tag?

Too many things happen over the years. Tags get lost.

Nothing 'weird' about that one at all. Just not as common as some others.

bit more info ,apparently they started using the second tag mid 71 . cars built before JAN-FEB 71 didn't get a second tag . mines CO3( DEC70) so it shouldn't have one.

That seems to make sense as mine was built 28 August 1970.  Was the dual tag for mid-71 only?  My lynch road '72 Rallye built in April '72 only has the one plate.  Anyway, thanks for the info!

But mine was built Nov. 70 and it has the inspection tag. ???
I think some goofy stuff happened at the factories as evidenced by the mismatched build sheets, etc.

I too have seen inspection tags on cars built before Jan-Feb so I'm not sure the time line listed above is accurate.

arrg :eek2:  if i was the OCD type i would of missed tea and sat up all night trying to find answers. alright only till 2am  , found numerous references to lynch rd tearing pages out of the fender tag rule book but I'll go one further i think they threw away the rule book and wrote their own !  my head hurts , does anyone have the fact on this. every time i think I've got it someone has a different view or a car that don't fit the mold :scratchchin:  .i give up, lynch rd tags are very frustrating :brickwall:
