Question About Inexpensive Poster Frames

I'm looking to get some odd & various sized posters framed up inexpensively. I know there has to be something that doesn't cost 10 times the price of the poster. I can probably make something but I just don't have the time. My daughter started collecting anime artwork & just got several posters that look like a silk screen print on linen, not paper. She was simply going to tack them on the wall but it seems that this thin, cloth-like material might sag or stretch over time so a frame with plexiglass or such would protect them. I could probably use a few frames myself for some car & few rock band posters I've had since the early 70's.

Anyone know of a source for them?

What about some kind of kit where you can cut the snap-together frame to the correct length?

My wife came home with a few sale item frames from a craft supply store called "Michael's" but they are the basic & standard dimensions & the posters aren't.

Thanks for any ideas.

How about getting them laminated? That shouldn't cost too much and they can do pretty much any size poster.

Tomorrow is promised to no one.......drive your Charger today.

Totally doing that to all my posters I wanted to put up in the garage. Then Id buy some small planks, paint them black and make my own framing.

Good idea!

I have several movie posters and frames and the best place to get them cheap is at Walmart or a craft store like Michael's or Craft Warehouse. I have some high-end movie poster frames that I got at Suncoast Motion Picture Co. in one of our local malls but those were like $20 each at the time. Not even sure they have them anymore.

If you have a wide variation of sizes I would suggest one of the craft stores.

I am a crafty girl, and I like to re-purpose things. Yes Michaels is good but tends to get pricey. Places I would check out would be thrift stores and yard sales. You can get frames for a buck on average. Usually there is some sort of cheesy picture in it but just remove and use frame. Also if you see a frame you like or size you need think about buying some cheap spray paint in a color you like!!! Hope this helps! Post pics when your done! ;)

In every Sunday newspaper there is always a coupon for Michael's or AC Moore. Usually 40 to 50 percent off. We buy 2 or 3  papers every Sundat . To save money on Shelby's art supplies.  :2thumbs:  I will show this thread to her and see if she has any ideas .   Oh, and you can sign up for e-mails from both companies for discounts .

Thanks for the ideas.

My wife Mary saves the Michael's coupons all the time & I am sure she used it the other day. The thrift store is a great idea, I forgot about that.

Wonder what the lamination stuff costs?   :shruggy:

I'm sure my daughter will take pics for facebook when she's done so I'll post them here, too.

One thing I did find last night with a google search was how someone simply sandwiched the poster between two sheets of plexiglass. This would be cheap for me because I have about 100 sheets of 20"x30" plexiglass saved. (Pack-Rat Syndrome.....LOL) They were in my Mom's warehouse when I emptied it out after she closed up & I had planned to make a small greenhouse that never happened.

The only trouble is that I need to find time to remove the brown paper that's on the surface.   ::)

Maybe my daughter will do that.   :D
