I am looking for 4 speed nuts to install the rear quarter corners. does anyone have a few or know where i can find them?

Lowes or most any hardware store should have them

they are not your standard speed nuts, they are tall conical looking ones. the Lowes speed nut are not holding.
trying to load a picture but forgot how.

ah..I know which ones you mean now....

looks like a volcano with a washer on it.

They are being reproduced, or perhaps maybe still being produced. :shruggy: Anyway, I got a set of new ones but I'll be damned if I can remember where. I do remember they weren't that hard to find. Actually, each trim piece takes three so if you've only got two studs in each one, one stud got busted off.

Yeah, just found them there but they don't look quite right to me. The washer base is too big.

one stud did get broken off. i happen to still have it though. the painter ripped it off while removing the corner.

now that another topic. how can i put it back on? the corner is freshly painted.

Nice. ::)

Well, that stuff is pot metal so it's not going to be easy. Which one got broken off? Middle or one of the ends? You'd have been better off trying to reattach it before painting it because the best way to do it is probably a low heat weld or brazing. Too much heat is going to screw up your paint but it needs to be on there good to install the nut without it popping right back off.

Hard Charger

it is the bottom stud

but it is on the side with the new quarter. meaning i could really use that stud to properly mount it to the new quarter.

I'm not going to tell you what to do but if it were me I'd take it back to the painter and ask him to make it right. I assume he's got a full body shop with a welder and whatnot? He busted it so he should be the one fixing it in my opinion. He's probably got some left over paint that he mixed for you too in case it ends up needing to be repainted.

Plan B would be buying a new set and having them painted to match, which might be the way to go considering the low chance of success of getting the stud back on there securely.
