Just wondering.  Been kicked in the nuts so much lately that I don't know what to do.    We have such a division between Operations and Sales that it got 300% worse in the last year.  Been with this place for 3 1/2 years.  Great company, but it's like a major soap opera lately.   

The old saying "Work to Live or Live to Work".  I am seeing more people are Living to Work and it's sad.  They aren't happy, and life is flying by.  Thank goodness I don't do this......

I love my work, but then it's my business. Back when I was "employed", most days were an unrelentingly merciless hell.

Choices: become the boss, or leave the company, or start your own, or get drugged up and dazed. 

Hope you can find some satisfaction. Unfortunately we almost always define our self-worth by what we do for a living. It's tough to shut off all the crap that comes with a bad job. It wears down your spirit and messes with your health and mind. Good luck with the choices.

That's exactly where I am right now.    I've had (3) people I know die this past week, and it put things in perspective.  Problem, I have 3 boys and a wife to support. 

For the most part, I try and let it not effect me, but in the last month, I told off a customer, my boss (who I've known for 17 years) and today a VP of the company.  All could have been avoided if there wasn't so much CYA happening in this company.  Absolutely kills me......

Take a sick day, go fishing or whatever you do to get away from it all, get your head on straight, and go from there.  If you don't, all you'll do is make yourself miserable.  Kind of sounds like that's what you're doing now.

 Any job will have it's ups and downs. I find that when I walk out the door, I leave it all behind. If you can help it, don't mix work with home, and they both go smoother

I am a real estate broker and right now I pretty much just sell foreclosed homes.   Work at my own speed from home!   Working for right now!

It does sound like you need a break. Even a week away can work wonders. But you also need to talk about it, get it off your chest. It's amazing how much better you feel afterward. And a good place to start is at home. Talk to your wife, tell her how you feel. Often you'll find that sharing your problems with your partner is a good place to start as they are generally the person that understands you best and can provide support. 
I know when things have gotten me down in the past, just discussing it  with my wife somehow always made them easier to cope with. The problems don't necessarily go away but they no longer seem so major.

I hear what your saying, but she's actually egging me on to change companies.   I vent to her, and she is supportive.    A few years ago I almost sold two cars just to take some time off and figure out what I wanted to do. 

There are about 6 of us that help each other out because we're all in the same boat, BUT, what kills us all is we have so much pain due to company politics.  It's stuff that can be fixed, but upper management doesn't want to address the issues.   It's not like we are a small company either - it's a $200 million dollar growing company.

I have found that the more money you make, or the bigger your company is ($200 Mil), the more bullsh*t you will have to put up with from micro-management practices. Everybody is out to "be the man"..."king sh*t on turd mtn." Only problem is, it is VERY frustrating when you:

1. Show up everyday
2. Have a valid driver's license
3. Do not do drugs
4. Am not one who needs a 12 pack to get to lunch break for another 12 pack
5. Do not have fifteen girlfriends with 30 kids
6. Do not stay on a damn cell phone all day/texting
7. Can actually fix stuff/do your job well
8. Do not take "Ciesta's" where you leave early on Friday and come in on Tuesday


Yet, you still get treated like the lowest person on the totem pole. Sooner or later, the big billy badass boss-man wonders why he has tires that go flat, certain high dollar things in the shop suddenly break, and basically begin to take what's yours in some small way. People will only be sh*t on so much, then they begin to sh*t right back. You just have to figure out a way to do it that's all. Makes you feel ALOT better bout some A$$HOLE bit*hin' all the time and treating you like sh*t. When in fact, he should be kissin' your a$$ as you are the best employee he/she has.

I don't really hate the job, just the people.  I'd be gone in a heartbeat if I could, but with two and soon to be three kids in college it's good pay & benefits and a decent pension if I can work another 7 without going postal...

See I think the work force here in America has to deal with ALOT more than say in Japan. They take a little "Break" for a nap everyday. Of course, I'm sure they too get a$$hole's doing the same things here, but I've found that many of the Owners of fortune 500 companies, even some small businesses tend to think that if they show ANY kind of "needing" your ass, you will trun into a "pre-Madonna" and become a problem. When in fact, many stay at their sh*t jobs because of this or that and refuse to let things like Family, health, etc. get in the way. The chase of money will always have someone who will do your job if you take the higher road. I find this troubling. As troubling as scabs on the picket lines when there's a legit problem. I think once shootings begin like the term "Going Postal" got coined years ago for someone at that high paying, post office job with all those GREAT benefits got canned, then will we see the workforce begin to sit up and take notice of the American worker. We are all just trying to get ahead, but there are those that will hold you back and use you for a stepping stone in order for them to "get ahead" and those are the ones that need the "teaching"...Until then, We will still see people like drones going to a place that will put them in the ground after 2 months of retirement. See, I firmly believe that in this day and age, you HAVE TO f*ck somebody over in order for you to get ahead. Look at Facebook guy. He basically stole the idea and ran with it that some other dudes came up with, now he rich as hell. See what I mean? Only thing is, I have been on the wrong end of a gun.  It took how long before schools began to see "Bullying" as an actual thing?? I mean, WHERE the HELL WERE THESE FREAKS WHEN I GOT JUMPED EVERY F*CKING DAY BACK IN 1987?? It took a few Kids shooting up schools and blaming it on Bullying in order for these dumbasses to realize there's a problem. A legit one. I fear the Same thing will eventually happen at the work place.

Had been called back to a former employer back about 5 years ago. Worked and made him one helluvalotta money for over 4 years. Never missed a day. Not one single day. ALWAYS early to work. Hadda punkass kid in the office sitting behind the desk, watching Net-Flix movies on the bosses dime, and boss was paying for the movies too boot. Soon as work slowed down, I'm the one he tells (With gun in his back pocket no less), "I gotta lay you off"..
WTF is wrong with this picture? Why does the absolute WRONG thing happen every f*ckin' time??? Are bosses really this stupid??? Do they work at it, or are they born stupid? I don't get it. However, payback is a Beeyotch. He had to purchase some new windshields for about 6 cars/trucks about 2 years later......I have no idea what happened either.....
I've got a wife right now that has a messed up back and blow out knees. Was REFUSED disibility becasue she was "too young" in their words. Just go back to work they said. Meanwhile, we have POS people on disability because they can't crawl out of a bottle, or stop sticking a damn needle in their arms. WTF???
Ok, so she gets a job, soars right to the top of her job as manager. Leaves for another oppertunity that didn't come to fruitition. Goes back to old job as "Assistant Mgr." under a person that I swear is mentally challenged. She can't even function daily. She MUST leave everyday around 3 PM.
She's been on "leave" with her "Grand daughter" because her POS daughter is a drug infested Piece of sh*t that is taking up valuable space on this planet and doens't work. Yep, she's on the system too. So, anyway, while she's on leave, Wifey cleans up the place and gets it back in order and on track. Wanna guess what kind of pay difference between her and the POS that is being Paid more than wifey to do her f*cking job?
Try like $20K/year difference. And wifey has NO BENEFITS!!!! WTF is wrong with this picture?

This is the type sh*t that big companies try and "Not see", or deal with. They tend to not want to hear bout their Incorrect judgements when it comes to workers. Bosses have an uncanny knack for wanting to NEVER BE WRONG no matter what. Like it shows some kind of Weakness in the ranks to the other employees if they EVER admit being wrong. When in fact, if they would just STOP AND LISTEN to their employees and take a hint from them, it would make them look better in the end, but no, they gotta be Big dog, King sh*t, I run this sh*t not you type thinking that causes what I described here.

I once had a bossman tell me that before. "I run This place, Not you" when I tried to offer a different solution to a perticular Personel problem we were having. Long story short, it cost him 5 employees before he stated basically the same thing I SAID, and called it his own idea. I call this type thinking "Big willyism" disease.

Hate my job but it pays the bills. Been there too long. You can't work for company for 30 years anymore and make a career, not with this one anyway.

I think half the problem that I have is I'm a sales guy - thus the over paid guy that goes golfing all the time.  I wish I had time to take a crap some days.  Plus, not only am I a "sales" guy, I'm the "bill collector", "fireman", "designer", "PM", "researcher", "test candidate" and on and on and on.  I travel usually 3/4 days a week, and try and not miss too much kid activities - but it happens.

Just have to win the lottery!
