We had the decals made here from a file we gave them..In know..the stars on the flag are too little(or either the blu stripes are too big),0 on the doors is a little different..more movies style and in  the GENERAL LEE writes there is too much white and less blu..this is the only thing we can still change easly..

pippo702

For the interior we had to make a choice..

I wanted the car interior to be tan..I got the whole set(door panels and seat covers) in that color but the dash wash a darker brown..since I thought that repaint the dash would be useless I decide to keep it that way.. so I went to a color shop with a sample to get them make a matching color for the dash pad cover I had to buy to replace the worn old one..I brought also a sample of the tan from the seat covers..

When we painted the dash we noticed that the two dark browns(the new one and the original from, for example, the map pocket door and some other dash inserts I wanted not to paint) were different..probably because the sample I brought was in a corner of the dash pad that was not wear as the map pocket door..so my partner decided to paint everything on the dash with the new color..

Same thing happened with the door upper panel pads..we used the tan made from the seat cover sample but it didn't match..so we decide to go for a two tones door panels pattern using the darker brown for the panel pads..it's not original,Chargers didn't come that way from Dodge in 69..that's my biggest concern.. I know that people at cars meetings would notice that..we spent so many money for this restoration and now I have the feeling we lowered the level all the work made until now..even thought the engine compartment it's not original at all..

Here the panel pads with the first color we used:

and here how is it now:

anyone ever did the same thing?

Magnifico Pippo! :notworthy:

There were three Generals here in Kent England, now they are all gone BooHoo.
Maybe ten to twelve in total in the UK.
The most iconic Mopar ever I believe.
Followed by the bad guys '68' in Bullitt.
Worked on 'Richard Hammonds' Charger a few years back, that was also a General Lee.
Drove it for about 10 miles here in Kent and people were following and waving and Hootin!!!
Driven alot of Chargers and never seen so much interest from the public before! :2thumbs:
Even had guys knocking on my door wanting to go out for rides and stuff.

Good luck driving round those tiny Italiano streets LOL!
Even tighter than England.
500Jon

ps Pippo, plenty of Charger parts here in England, try us first MoparUK MMA.

4-SPEED, 1969 Charger-500 is the most Coolio car in the World!

Hi Pippo,

I see one small error!
You forgot to fit the 'HUMP' for the 4 speed in the floor pan.
Easy fix though, no sweat to fit laters.
There has been several 4-speed set-ups for sale here in England for a Bigblock B-body.
Darryl in California has plenty but he is pricey.
My Moparmate just sold his complete Kiesler 5-speed set-up outta his 68 Charger.
Just gotta be lucky on the day.
500Jon

If you already have one please delete this reply.
Oh yes, I did see you have an auto in there, but 4 on the floor is Coolio!

What do you think about the interiors two tones color?

Ghoste

Myself I think it looks fine.  :yesnod:

Just 6T9 CHGR

Looks great but one pet peeve of mine is when the interior door frame is left body color....should be interior color.   Not sure if thats how the original GL's had it (if thats the look you are going after)

Sorry for the misunderstanding.. in a pic the passenger side door panel pad is off because we were working on it.. we painted the panel pads in a darker brown which is the same we used for the dash..

Mr. Lee

Great job there Pippo  :2thumbs:

What are the engine and exhaust specs?

Where you live in Italy? I sold 2 of my former General Lee's to your country; one went to Saronno, the other one to Sicily.

pippo702

That's how it looks..

we still have to install the right arm rests

I think you have done an awesome job mate, the interior colours look fine to me!....i guess you have to ask yourself, are you making a replica General Lee or a tribute to the General Lee?, if you are happy with the two tone colour then that is all that matters and call the car a tribute car, that way its still a General Lee but has your personal touch to it. Then if anyone hassles you that you got something not quite right you can say "no problem, its not a replica" That's was i intend to do anyway when the time comes. But each to there own and i'm sure some would disagree with me , but keep up the great work your doing, encourages the rest of us GL lovers out there.

Cheers

Looks great!  If you painted the upper door pads the same as the dash then it will look even better!  Definitely paint the bottom of the doors tan though.
