Ok, here's a poll that won't close to soon and cover more cars.       I've split the 66 and 67, added the 500 and Daytona, and added the 80's Shelby Chargers.   I'm gonna let this poll run for a long time so it will be more accurate.   I'm not going to bother with the "new" chargers or the late 70's.     My vote is still the same though.......1968

Instead of my fellow Americans I should have said my fellow charger lovers.  Just want to be fair.    They didn't make a Charger in 1980 did they?      I know these polls don't really mean anything it's just for fun.   Like I said in the other thread we have way more members than before and I'm pretty sure the average age is lower.
So that makes it interesting to see what flavors people like.

No.   I just wanted to do a better poll with better options and longer running.     :icon_smile_wink:   I was only teasing about the 70 registry guys.   I can still see this being a real toss up between the 68, 69 and 70.   The 70's have gotten way more popular.

Where is that car from?

From a video game promotion i think it was called interstate 76 or something, they modified a charger then gave it away in a contest or something

I voted for 68, The year that saved the charger from extinction, was gonna do 66 since it was the one that started it all, but that didn't seem like a good enough reason  :scratchchin:

I own a 3rd generation charger (1971)   its a slim ! Slim ! Margin for me but the 1968 is it . Circle tail lights and hideaway headlights . It's the stand out of all the rest. Then 1971 and all the rest.

I'm curious if everyone owns the car they voted  for.

Bryan, the last poll wasn't fair to the 70 guys because it ended to soon.    More options and long running gives the 70's their chance to dominate.    Man guys, I'm doing them a favor.   If it was biased I'd stop it now but then guys would complain they didn't get to vote or their car wasn't there.   Bottom line is the last poll was picking up speed and then it ended.   So it wasn't really accurate or fair for anybody.      Now remember, vote 68.    :nana:

the 70's came from 3rd place and tied for first within less than 2 days...so I think it's fair to say that they were starting to dominate. So you took yer ball and went home because the 68's were gonna loose.

The 68's will probably win now, most of the 70 guys already proved their point by voting in the first pool and are not gonna play "re-vote in the election" again, and I see their point

I just think it's pretty crappy that you make a poll, find out yer gonna loose, and cancel it

My three cents worth...I know a lot of others see it this way as well....

Bryan (not voting)

skip68

Bryan, I DIDN'T END OR CANCEL THE LAST POLL.   IT WAS SET FOR 7 DAYS AND ENDED ON IT'S OWN.    I WAS IMPRESSED THAT THE 70 CARS ARE REALLY GETTING POPULAR.   It doesn't matter if my choice wins or not and I think it's cool to see.   Man, I don't want to argue with anyone or upset anyone and I'm not going to.  The last poll had A PREDETERMINED END TIME.   I'm sure the mods can go back and see that.    Bryan, you are 100% correct that the last 2 days it picked up but then ended and that's why I had to make it run longer.
Let's not turn this into something its not.   It is what it is and that's the end of it.   Come on guys, we're better than this.     :pity:

If I was going to mess around with a poll I would do it in my favor.   Bryan, you can't be serious?   I know it may look that way because all of a sudden it ended BUT, I didn't have the option of extending the poll longer.    This poll has no end date or time and I'm in control of ending it.   If anybody thinks I would do what I'm being accused of that's their problem.   You guys should know better.    ::)   Far as guys that don't want to vote, then don't vote.  I'd rather you did vote though.     Why the hell are we even talking about this/    ::)

To any of you new guys, I had a poll, it ended too soon as it was picking up speed so I started a new one.  That's it!

Asking the 70 registry guys to vote is no different than Jackie or Shelby asking us to go "like" their Facebook page to help them win.
We have even helped Stuart win a few times with his contests.

I still stand by what it looked like in the last poll, as do other people who have agreed with me

and I'm not arguing, I'm stating what it looked like in my opinion

I asked for it to be deleted because I was starting a new longer running poll.       The 70's were kicking but but the poll ended.  So in all fairness I wanted to see how far they can go.  I have a feeling that the 70 will win over 69 and maybe even 68.   Maybe....  I know 68 was a big thing for the Charger but 70 is when things went crazy far as style and options.   As others have said, 70 had the Daytona, wild colors, pistol grip shifter, 6pak and I'm sure lots more that I just can't think of.   With that said, I'm not surprized and won't be if 70 takes the top choice.

I agree Bryan that the 70 registry guys should jump in.  In the other thread I was just ribbing them.   :icon_smile_wink:   I can understand why some may think it was ended by me and it would look bad but that's not what happened.   If it was, why would I bother starting a new poll?  Trust me Bryan, it is just the way I said it was.   Since some think there is a "conspiracy"  ::) I will ask the mods to settle this as they can go back and see it had a end date.    Mods, can you please babysit us once more and confirm that the old poll had a deadline?  Sorry to ask but that will put an end to this once and for all.  I know you have better things to do and thank you for your time.   Thanks.

Oy vey....

Guys relax. The point was doing these polls (which have been done to death) are pointless.

Given that, more often than not, people vote for the car they own, it is mathematically impossible for 70 to win. And I am fine with that. Based on sheer production runs and survival rates the 68 or 69 should easily walk away with the polls....and they do. No surprise. Makes sense to me.

The only reason 70 did well in the last poll was because we are organizationally connected and could rally votes en-masse quickly.....and that the poll was over in a couple of days. We had essentially blown our load and if the poll went longer there was no way we could muster much more.

Skip, I think they are just giving you a hard time about shutting it down once the 68 wasn't going to win.  The joke may be on you this time  :smilielol:

Yup, 3rd generation chargers are one of the most overlooked ,beautiful ,pieces of machinery out there .I ignored these chargers for years . In the coming years ,more folks will be priced out of the second generation and come to realize that there is another close alternative . Then of course ,these prices will go up as they already have. The watermelon car was a recent reconstruction.  The purple one is the only one that's alive from back in the day AFAIK.  I think it's still back in my hometown, Hays, Ks. (former home of the car's nest, Wheels-n-Spokes)
Although I'm not quite sure.  The Junemans' moved to Lawrence, Ks. to be with their son who was a walk on @ University of Kansas basketball team.  You may have heard of that team, they're kind of a big deal.  I might add they just signed the #1 recruit in the country to go along with all the other high ranked kids.  They say the best committed group Self has ever recruited.

In the pic of the house being wiped out & carrying the roof towards the big white quonset & stopping destruction right before it, it is most likely where the purple Daytona is/was along with whatever leftover collection of everything that Jerry didn't sell.

If you look @ the back of the Daytona picture you'll see plywood starts new at about 10'.  That's a shortcut exit into the shop & there's an overhead door about 20' away.  I imagine out of all the rigs in his museum, that car was one of them that he wanted out of there 1st in case something ever happened.
