Goodyear racing slicks on your winged car

I was thinking of getting some 15x8 steelies or real Grand National rims for the Daytona. I was going to try and find a set of good used Goodyear racing slicks as well. I'm going for that sort-of NASCAR look for either the Daytona or C500...

Your thoughts?

   Google   "NTT Racing" they have all types of vintage reproduction race tires. Some with (GOOD YEAR) white lettering.   There is also an e-bay store north of Charlotte Nc.  "racing tires" I think  the name is and he has a huge amount of used stock car tires.   I think that is what I am going to do on mine also.

I installed a set of the electric dumps on a 69 runner. The strange thing is, they would work sometimes and sometimes they wouldn't. I tried to open them up on stage at the Mecum auction last year but the stupid things decided to not work. Dangit.....

Current nascar rims are 9.5" wide.  you can get them at any number of places, Bart, Diamond, Aero, etc.  There is a place that makes vintage nascar wheels if you want to get real serious looking. I forget the name, but I think someone has mentioned them here previously.

I know you and Gary mentioned the Clements as the GN wheels used, but wasn't that starting in '72? Based on these pictures, it looks like deep steelies are more appropriate for the '69 racing year? I was thinking 15x8 for a street production Daytona like mine.

The trick if you go in the direction of steelies is getting them with the right deep dish look.    You can't exactly duplicate the stamping of the centers,  but BART made up a set of wheels for a Lorenzen 63 replica that looked better IMO than how stock Mopar centers look.

Thanks... I see their website, but I take it the wheel you pictured is a wheel they make on the fly/demand. I'll send them an email...... Now, another big question. If I have a negative offset of 4" instead of the typical 4.5", would that make the wheel/tire postion, on a street car, too close to the fender? I take it instead of 3.5" positive offset on a 4.5" negative offset, I'd have a split of 4" and 4"... Obviously, the look I want is a FULL wheel well, but also want street driveability.....

Just got an email from Rick and this is what he will build (trailer wheel).. Unfortunately, doesn't have the same look.. Won't do......

Those are the ones I've got my eyes on... I'm curious on the 4" backside versus the normal 4.5"....
