Red Brake Drum Paint Color

I'm planning on applying the red paint to the rear drums on my '70 (factory front disc, drum rears). I never applied it during the resto, but my original drums were indeed red.
Gibson is asking $45 for half a pint for the red brake drum paint (that's right, $45 for HALF a pint). 

I'm looking for a very close match alternative, or if anyone has a paint code/formula for this. It would have to have some heat resistance to it as well.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Didn't Resto Rick on moparts.com have the correct paint also?   

Guess you are getting bored with not having any projects to do so my guess is that you are going to go the OE certification route for your 70?

I was given the tip back in the day that Ford Red engine paint is a very close match

Interesting. Eastwood lists Chrysler & Ford engine reds as the same product. 

According to Resto Rick, the brake drum red is similar to Chrysler engine red but a little browner.
I reviewed photos of my original drums. There doesn't seem to be a hint of brown, they were bright a$$ red.
At least Rick's paint is only $17 bucks vs Gibson's $45, that's a bit easier to swallow.

It's very possible that there could have been slight variations from plant to plant.  Hard to say especially since rust and such could have started "browning" them too over the years.
