Took the car out for a spin the other day, threw in $20 in gas, and went crusing. Not 10 mins after leaving the gas station the car dies on me at cruise. No pop, bang, smoke I actually didnt' even notice it died until i went to give it a bit of gas.  Pulled over and tried to start it, would not fire up again. I am automaticaly figured it was electrical as I had just gone threw bunch of problem at the end of last year.

Get the car towed home, to upset to work on it. Go out the next day, turn the key and it fires right up.... hmmmm weird, I have the car running, and wiggle all connections I suspected to maybe cause the proble, the car idles along fine.  I leave the car running, adjust the timing slightly and idel mixture. As I am looking under the car at a possible exhaust leak, it dies.  I hop in and try to start it and it will not fire again. I check my fuel filter ( see threw style ) it is pretty much empty. I had just put fuel in so I know I am not out of gas.  I get my wife to crank it as I watch the filter, a small amount of fuel can been seen pumping in the the filter. The car actually fires while she is cranking, but as I watch the filter it, barely has any fuel in it at all.

I pull the fuel line off up by carb line, a blast of fuel comes out when I pull the hose off. Grab a pop bottle and put the hose in, a few cranks and fuel comes gushing in, as it should.

SO...... looking threw my manual I see that 440 - 426 came with Vapour septerator, that was located inline between the pump and carb. I deffinantly do not have this , I would assume this would fix my problem though???

The car is a 68 Charger, Stock with a 750 Holley.

Thoughts suggestions?

I did read your post even before I made mine.

I just wanted to make sure it sounds like vapour lock. And was curios if anyone has the stock vapour separator that I found in the manual??

Well I ordered an insulator gasket for the carb today. Also got my hands on a laser thermometer here are my temps currently. I took these as soon as the fuel in the filter went down.

Carb front fuel bowl = 70
Intake direct above heat crossover = 110
Fuel line from carb = 80
Fuel line half way to filter = 80

These are degrees Celsius of course

The intake temps seem hot....i would also install the 1215 intake gasket with the heat crossover block-off along with the insulating base gasket  :yesnod:

with the edelbrock rpm heads do I  need to worry about blocking the crossover?  I don't remember seeing the crossover ports on the heads. I'm having the same issue when hot.

I run a 440 without the vapor seperator and although I need to get one, the car does not have vapor lock.  Do what Ron says and you'll be good to go.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

No heat crossover with the RPM heads so no need to install the 1215 gasket.  ;)
