Something different.....what do you NOT like to see on Chargers, Mopars

Thought I would try something different....we have all these"favorite" threads, and people always chiming in with what they don't like on threads, I wanted to start this. Some hate GL clones, some hate other colors, some hate big wheels, some hate this, some hate that. We all have different taste. Tell us something you would never do to your own car (don't pick out someones individual car and single it out), just tell what you would never do...or put on your own car.

I'll start with a couple of things I don't care for......
1. Aluminum slot wheels. Just never been a fan of them.
2. Raised white letter tires.  :eek2: My mind cannot comprehend what makes people think they look good on anything....much less a beautiful charger.

any kind of display at a car show like stuffed toy's, display sign's.
Seems old and outdated like seeing a black velvet oil painting hanging in someones house.

Baldwinvette77

Ok, 1.  i personally dont like mundane colours, beige, dark green, brown, i have nothing against people who purposely paint them these colours, they just dont click with me.
2.another thing i dont like is cutting up nice cars, again nothing agaisnt people who do this i just wouldn't cut up a california car to make a dragster.
3. last but not least, i dont like modernizing cars too much, I respect the craftsmanship of restomods and showcars, and i know the benefits of fuel injection but i prefer simple function over form

P.S. I like slot mags and raised white letter tires

Slowpoke

I would never shave the door handles or side markers, especially since the 68 markers are a distinguishing point on the car.

back seats full of trophy's and trophy's sitting on top of air cleaner pisses me off big time. I also hate bumper stickers on a car.

Anything that tries to make the these cars what they are not.

IE: Big brakes, wheels, suspension designed for an F12 Ferarri, Crazy interiors with NAV systems, DVD touch screens in dash/headrests, body mods like shaved handles, markers, bumpers, body lines, etc; Tubbed out rears.

Anything else is pretty much cool, even the crazy 1970's inspired paint jobs, goofy stupid high wings, nose cones that look hacked but are factory on Daytonas, and BIG ASS "01's" and confedrate flags on the roof too.

Tilar

I cant see anything to argue about. It's nothing but opinions.

Personally I'm not crazy about huge ass wheels like 17 on up. I don't care for aluminum slots on these cars but it wouldn't be a deal breaker.  I do like raised white letter tires. My pet peeve is someone sitting on the hood or roof or trunk of the car, regardless of how small an ass or how big her tits are.  :RantExplode:

God must love stupid people; He made so many.

Pretty much agree with the above.

I am good with some updating......better brakes/stand alone EFI, keeping flavor close to stock looking.....

Absolutely HATE big rim/rubber band tires. And a touch screen...... :eek2:

Actually the big rim/tire thing is about the only thing that would make me walk away from a car.....but I am still polite enough not to tell the owner how stupid it looks.

Oh yeah, that reminds me about something on the hoods...BIG ass, HUGE, 50% efficient, 6-871 Blowers on these cars, Looking like it runs in the 7's 1/4 mile, while it actually only runs in the 12's.

Ok, I think I'm done now.

I'd love to build an 8-71......of course it's be a truck based rat rod style, and the Deetroit would still be attached to the 8-71. :D

68RT440

I cant stand "custom" interiors, like seeing a purple car with grey tweed interior and everything outlined in purple piping with a huge pentastar or R/T logo stitched into the rear seat or headrests...
1968 Charger R/T, matching numbers 440/727, black with green top and interior, currently getting restored by me

Patronus

Bumper stickers and dudes carrying combs.
Oh, and if you even think about sitting on it.. we're gonna have a wood shampoo.

Don't like:

- Anything DOH or GL related
- Rubber band tires
- Black wheels
- Wide whites
- RWL showing
- Accordian hoses
- Flip-lever radiator caps
- Rolling boom boxes
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

I DO like the aluminum slots, but I'm a product of the 70's- that's what they looked like then!  A set of wide slots with N50's on the back and you were all set.
I don't like the whole ricer inspired 17"-18" whatever rims with rubber band tires, wheel tubs, huge brakes and all the associated chassis mods for cars that will never see the track and rarely see the street.

Cooter

Wait........Air Shocks/Shackles. Ass end sticking all up in the air like a porn star on crack, or a dog sniffing the road.
HUGE N-50 tires sticking out the fenderwells by at least 2".

"Lake pipes" and flame throwers. Glasspack mufflers. Straight pipes. "Pizza cutters" on the front.

Like Cooter said "the big ass 01's and confederate flags. I think the world has enough Duke cars now, These are beautiful cars dont trash them up! :Twocents:
This hobby is more than just our cars, it's the people you get to meet along the way!!!

Oring tires and spinners. Hydraulics, Slamming. All may be fun stuff but do it to the cube, smart car, volt etc.
I have yet to see something added or removed that improved on the 68-69 charger.

Um, "Cooter" actually was ok with those. A GL is considered by many to be a compliment to a 1968-70 Charger.  :D

Oh another thing, a 69 grille with 68 taillights, i think thats the only grille/ taillight combination that doesnt work on 2nd gens  :-\  i've seen it on 2 different cars so far

You've seen my old car?   :nana:

Actually the N50's were a real pain, I didn't have long shackles, just the air shocks.  You had to make sure the quarter wasn't cutting into the tires, one little hose leak  for the shocks and you were done.   And they wouldn't pass state inspection so you had to swap the F70's back on until you got the sticker!  But no side pipes ( that's just a Vette thing), Dad wouldn't let me get glass packs  (too loud for his taste) and the pizza cutters, I had to settle for the other pair of F70's (Firestone Super Sports).
Those were the days!Made $#.35 an hour and thought I was rich, about 50 cents a gallon for gas!

marshallfry01

I can't stand after market steering wheels. Like grant and others. The 3 spoke wood grain wheel looks perfect in a Charger! And I also don't like aftermarket seats and door panels.
1969 Charger 383/auto
1969 Charger R/T 440/auto (waiting to be restored)
1972 Chevelle SS clone 383 sbc
1959 Chevy Apache short bed stepside
1968 Charger (glorified parts car)
Yes, I know I have too many cars. My wife reminds me daily.

Cooter

A Charger that I can't stand is one that is clearly worth money, Sits for 35-40 years and nobody cares, it is finally sold, then everybody and their cousiin is looking to get it back just because it had some hideous wing on the back looking like something from the F&F movies and a nose cone designed for a Nissan 300Zx. :D :nana:
