Hemi Daytona Restoration

If you count the individual pieces separately, there are seven visible pieces (and two pieces not visible, as far as I know).  

I was originally counting each pair together as one "item" - depends on how you look at it...

Hi Gene. Those photos were taken quite a few years back, about 2006. Recently I brought all of the negatives that Roger had in my file and I transfered them to digital format. I noticed that while most photos were of my car there were some photos of other cars he was working on at the same time. I tried to seperate those photos but some slipped by me. I think that is my car in that underside photo but it could be a different car. What appears to be missing? I can ask Roger to check it out.

Pinion snubber plate would be the single item. Torque boxes and the triangle reinforcements at the rear. That would make 5 of the 7. The other 2

You can add the pinion snubber plate welded to the floor to the list.  Hemi's got a larger one than the other cars.

Seen all those items on a friends 440 daytona .It must have been intended to be a 426 car.But got 440 4 speed dana

I remembered your car being past the metal repair phase from what we had discussed, so now it makes sense.  Again, just curious.

Oh, and I did NOT intend to imply your car was missing anything - that was bad phraseology on my part.  The items I referred to as not being visible are more than likely present on your car, just not visible from the camera angle photo posted...  feel free to    me for that.  My bad.    Your photo was just a good shot of the rear subframe on a legit Hemicar.  Those are details most guys wouldn't mind seeing pointed out every now and again.



BTW, Troy pointed out the two forward spring hanger plates I was referring to that are not visible / hidden from view in the photo of Tony's car.  They're concealed by the torque boxes in Tony's photo.  There's still two other pieces (*hint* very closely related to the "hidden" items) that haven't been called out just yet by anyone...

The 2 rivets that hold down the VIN plate containing the letter "J"

Oooh, good one - didn't think of those.  They were plated with hemi-rated phosphpate, right?

Are you referring to structural modifications to the body or on the car generally ( i.e k-member )?

You're both right, actually.

Troy, you posted a photo of the plates tucked inside the torque boxes, but there is another set of plates (slightly larger) welded to the outside of the spring hanger bracket which is what Dave is correctly pointing out.

While my telestrator skills are not up to Allen V.'s for sure, the diagram below shows what I'm aware of when it comes to Hemi reinforcements/brackets... but I'm open to comments and/or correction.

OK, now that you mention it........ I reflect back to my old pictures and can see the plate welded in place.. I can see the welds........

And yes, the u-bolts were too long. I eventually got a proper set from Frank B............. So, don't judge me......

Too late Jim: I traded it for a "new" Lambrecht Chevy Monza. It's in rough shape but it has ONLY 2.1 miles.

Well,
not only is there seven visible and two not seen (due to camera angle) additional pieces that Gene so elaborately pointed to but there is also EIGHT additional CO2 arc welds that are related to but not directly attached to the rear spring rear hanger reinforcement that the E74 cars were supposed to receive.

Well technically two one inch vertical and two half inch horizontal welds per side of vehicle between part numbers 2602314-5 and 2602294-5.
