There have been some very nice threads detailing Daytona restorations, but I decided to add one more. After all you can never get too much of them! I bought this car around the year 2000 in the Miami, Fl. area. The car spent it's early life in Southern California. It was owned by Duane West of Duane's Auto Parts and was actually used to deliver auto parts! The car is being restored by Roger Gibson in Missouri. It has been there longer than I originaly hoped for, but it's not at all his fault it has taken so long. Right now the car is ready to be painted and then reassembled. The delay has helped me get a lot of NOS parts that I otherwise would have never been able to obtain. The car is hemi orange and is all matching numbers. It has it's original fender tag as well. Enjoy.

Now I can't seem to be able to get the photos under 200KB.

Very Cool !!! It's nice to know another one will be joining the world. At 1st, I saw Miami and thought !!! Maybe that's Dad's old car. But, you mentioned where it started its life. So, that axed that thought......

Looking forward in seeing the restoration. Seems Roger and Frank are busy......

Cheers and thanks for sharing.

Cool!  Look forward to it's progress.  Will you retain/recreate any of the car's "heritage"?

I have decided that I definitely won't be painting the lettering back on but I might get a magnetic or vinyl decal to put back on it.

Here are some more photos. The quality of these isn't real good because Roger's pictures were taken with an old style camera. I then bought a cheap device that converts negatives to digital photos. The problem is that the colors are not always accurate though.

Trying now to shrink the size of the photos a bit.

Looks like somebody tried to get rid of this sticker. :shruggy:

Trunk rail stamping.

69hemidaytona

Not a lot of overspray on the windshield washer hoses on this car.

Was the  car ever resprayed or is all the paint original?

69hemidaytona

Troy I noticed that bit of overspray on the fuel filler tube too. I think the majority of the paint is original. It looks like someone removed the rear bumper and painted that area black along with the grille. The back part of the hood had a thin coat of filler on it that was peeling badly. I'm not sure if that was done to fix some damage that Creative Induatries may have caused or it was done later on.

Holy "just-make-a-hole" !!!............ Is that how Creative adapted the latch tray for cooler line on a Hemi-auto Daytona? What about Superbirds?
