but they are still cheap at thrift stores and garage sales

   have lots of tape to fix all the splices

how about when you would here two songs playing at the same time. i looved playing the Smokey and the bandit 8 track in my dads groovy van when we were kids. The quality was quite crap

Don't forget the matchbook wedged under the 8-track so it will  help  the songs to be clearer and play the song clearly because no the tape is hitting the tape heads all the way.
